Sound Designer

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced sound designer to join the Facepunch audio team and help shape the audio experience across Rust and our upcoming title S&box. You’ll be responsible for breathing life into our worlds with immersive, expressive, and dynamic sound.
We're looking for people who are curious, highly self-motivated, who work well in teams and solo, who respond well to feedback. Candidate portfolios should be focused on sound effects work, not music. We value people who manage their own time well, take initiative, and thrive when trusted with responsibility.
Responsibilities
Design and implement high quality, artistically consistent audio assets for our games
Record, clean up, and design source material for our sound library
Manage your time and project scope to deliver stellar work alongside the rest of our team
Requirements
Strong sound design skills with an emphasis on video games or non-linear media
Strong knowledge of a DAW (Reaper preferred) and tools like iZotope RX
Strong understanding of game audio implementation
Ability to work creatively while maintaining sonic consistency with existing sounds
Ability to record and create source material to design future sounds from
Strong audio engineering, mixing, and mastering skills
Ability to work with a team and take on creative feedback
Ability and desire to learn new tools, techniques, and systems
Ability to work in sprints and manage your time and priorities well
Desirables
Prior experience working on audio in the games industry or related audio fields (film sound, studio engineering, etc)
Familiarity with Facepunch games
Experience with the Unity and Source game engines
Programming experience (absolutely not a requirement!)
Musical knowledge and ability

This role includes eligibility for a salary scheme bonus, with the potential to earn up to 50% of the base salary annually through performance-based quarterly bonuses during your first year. After completing one year, the performance bonus potential expands up to 100% of your base salary. This structure ensures continuous motivation and recognition throughout the year. The bonus system highlights our commitment to recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance and dedication. All bonuses are discretionary, bonuses are not paid during the probationary period.
