What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced IT Systems Administrator to manage and develop the core infrastructure that drives Facepunch Studios. The role will suit someone who thrives in a technically demanding, creative and varied environment and who takes pride in building stable, secure and scalable systems.

The ideal candidate has strong experience managing on-premises and cloud infrastructure, enjoys technical problem solving and can take a proactive approach to security, performance and support. They should be comfortable working closely with all areas of the business and able to manage their own workload effectively.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the DevOps and development teams and reporting directly to the CTO, the ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Manage and maintain server infrastructure (Windows, Mac and Linux)

  • Administer Google Workspace and Entra ID

  • Manage and maintain virtualisation and core services

  • Maintain, develop and support Azure and other cloud services

  • Maintain storage, backup and disaster recovery processes

  • Monitor infrastructure health, respond to incidents and proactively identify improvements

  • Support and maintain network infrastructure

  • Implement and maintain security best practices

  • Contribute to infrastructure planning, upgrades and implementation

  • Automate routine administrative tasks where practical

  • Any other duties as required

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft cloud administration (EntraID, Intune, Azure)

  • Experience with virtualisation platforms (Proxmox or OpenStack)

  • Understanding of security best practices across Client, Network and Infrastructure

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple technologies or traditional IT specialisations

  • Experience with scripting, Powershell, Bash, C# or similar

  • Proven experience in support for both technical and non-technical team members

  • Experience in a game development or creative studio environment
  • Familiarity with CI/CD infrastructure
  • Proven experience in managing projects
  • IT generalist or hobbyist
  • Ubiquiti UniFi experience
  • Programming skills, in particular C#
  • Familiarity with Facepunch or our games

Benefits

  • Salary - £38,000 - £56,000/pa experience depending

Bonus Scheme

Facepunch Studios’ industry-leading bonus package provides a comprehensive performance bonus scheme to reward employee contributions. This role includes eligibility for a salary scheme bonus, with the potential to earn up to 50% of the base salary annually through performance-based quarterly bonuses during your first year. After completing one year, the performance bonus potential expands up to 100% of your base salary. This structure ensures continuous motivation and recognition throughout the year. The bonus system highlights our commitment to recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance and dedication. All bonuses are discretionary, bonuses are not paid during the probationary period.
