Assistant Management Accountant

What we’re looking for
You will be responsible for assisting with the core finance function and supporting the Management Accountant and wider Finance Team. You will be involved in the day to day running of the financial work, getting stuck into lots of different finance tasks and picking up more responsibility as you grow into the role.
You will assist in keeping our accounting software up to date, making sure everything is accurate and the numbers make sense. You will support the Finance Manager and Management Accountant to pull together key financial reports and summaries for our stakeholders, making sure the numbers are clear and easy to understand. You’ll help ensure our financial processes are robust and assist in the year end statutory accounts and audit processes professionally.
This is a full-time remote position, but we’re keen to have the applicant working hybrid or if they prefer and are local then full time from our Birmingham (UK) office.
These are only the key responsibilities below, the role will be one to make your own.
Responsibilities
Maintain the accounting software for the company (Xero) in a timely and accurate manner
Assist with reconciling the company balance sheet
Assist with reconciling inter-company transactions
Support the production of quarterly management accounts (accruals, prepayments, journals)
Assist with the preparation of monthly KPI reports for management
Help maintain the Fixed Asset Register
Review expenses and ensure timely payment in line with the approval processes
Maintaining the full purchase process, using AutoEntry
Assist with monthly/quarterly ONS reports and submission
Adhering to key dates and filings
Assist with the preparation of company VAT returns
Assist with Corporation Tax Calculations
Support the Finance Manager with financial forecasts and budgets
Provide support with reconciliation work
Contribute to Ad-hoc project analysis
Assist in the production and communicating cost comparisons
Liaise with colleagues and suppliers to resolve queries and act as a finance representative where needed
Professionally liaise with accountants, auditors and other third parties as required
Keep Asana updated and on track with financial team goals
Requirements
Good standard of written and spoken English skills
AAT qualified level 4
2+ years experience working in a finance team
Proficient in the use of Google and Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
Experience and proficient use of Xero accounting software
Some exposure to multi currency accounting and reconciliation
Ability to communicate effectively to colleagues and third parties
Confidential with sensitive information
Experience of assisting with management reports and detailed analysis
Self-motivated and organised
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work in a small team and confidence to work on your own
Desirables
Prior experience or an understanding of Video Game Studios
Knowledge of VGTR
Audit process understanding
Experience of AutoEntry software
ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualifications are nice to have but experience and attitude are key and for the right person we will try to support you!
