make some cubemaps
Ah, nope, I didn't. I'll try. Do you have to do that every time?
Edit: Wait I didn't even put any env_cubemap stuff on the map yet. Is that why this is happening?
When people say build cubemaps, they mean add cubemaps then type build cubemaps in console. Otherwise it will mess up lighting on a whole manner of things.
Ah thanks. Just did it, works perfectly now. Thanks guys.
So this is a map I was working for a while..
I decided stop the progress because of hammer being a fucking piece of shit.
anyway, here are the screenshots:
The building is a tad bland and the forest looks odd, but the indoor lighting is spot on.
Seriously how the fuck do you people make interiors look like that.
I personally think it's very contrast-y.
Why does it make me think of BF3 visuals.
What's it supposed to be?
I meant the theme for the overall map.
I've made a little something yesterday and I don't really know if it good or not...
This is relatively... ugly.
My beautiful brush based windows...
And this is how I don't optimize my map...
It beautiful, don't you think?
In a much serious note, it was needed to achieve the "good" lighting on the floor...
though, i would like to read more opinions.
The light-map on the floor is... 1
What is that?
They remind me of Shantytown for some reason.
They are sperm with settlements on them.
When I first saw that I thought they were suppose to be ovaries.
maybe i should disable the shadows?
Most likely needs a gate of some sort.
disabled shadows and it does have an entrance
put a few blocklight brushes in the solid parts of the fences
might cast some nice shadows if you put a light shining down from the street lamp
tried my hand at being 'artistic'
did i succeed?
