Might take apart my AKM though once I get a new AK to replace that one
That sucks for you guys. Tinkering with my guns is my favorite part of having them. It's so much more fun to me to buy a cheap clone gun and upgrade it than to just go buy a high end one.
Gas guns are actually really fun to work on. I want more
Anyways. It's kwa so you already have a metal ball bearing spring guide. Usually. There's a handful of kwa's that dont have one. I've been out of the scene for a while. So everything I say is a few months old while I get up to speed.
With my setup, when I block the port, I can only get the piston down about half way and it wont move. So keep the cylinder unless there's something wrong with it. It's just a brass tube with a hole cut in it. You only need to change the cylinder if you change the barrel length. The piston might still be good, that's up to you.
KWA pistons have treated me well. Im using a metal unicorn piston, but if you really need a new one, the madbull polycarb pistons are pretty good. The piston isn't that important of a part for compression. As long as your gearset likes the piston you're good to go. Of course cheap pistons can crack and break. Stay away from metal pistons or all metal teeth. The reason for this, is there's a lot of stress put on that part, if something goes wrong in the gun (a jam) something might HAVE to break somewhere. Its best for the piston to break than for any other part ($100 set of helical gears for example).
Systema metal ported piston head with ball bearings. This is king. The harder/faster the piston moves the stronger the seal it'll make. But it's loud, being metal and all that. If you want to be quieter get a silent polycarb piston/cylinder head set. The seal seems to be about as good as the metal, but I dont trust tupperware to be honest. Which is why I own a cz-75 and ria 1911a2 and not a glock or XD
I'm having a mind fart about buckings. I use the KWA g2 something x buckings. They have the little nurbs on them so you dont have to use a wishbone or convex spacer, just a normal spacer bit. (im actually using a piece of 12 gauge wire insulation as a spacer in one of my guns right now with that bucking because i lost the spacer ) Also, softer buckings tear easier. I prefer harder buckings. I feel this is the single most important part of an airsoft gun. It's the only part of the gun that gives you range, which is ALWAYS needed when you're playing field. Proper hopup makes a world of difference. So treat this part very carefully and replace often. On most guns it only takes a few minutes to replace. And dont rip it. Softer hop ups easily rip, especially if you're clearing a jam or cleaning the barrel.
The modify v2 cylinder head is one of the best. It has double gaskets and a rubbery pad on it to make it quieter. Although I did find part of the pad stuck in my silencer/can thingy but it's pretty old so i can forgive it. Was pretty wtf moment. not sure how it happened as my barrel comes right up to the edge of the can.
Also you're forgetting the air nozzle. Prometheus is good and what I've always used. Haven't toyed around with other brands although I've heard hurricane is good. There's several nozzles with an o-ring inside that I really want to try. I think it's hurricane. I'd get hold of one of those if possible.
Silicone lube EVERYWHERE.
In the cylinder that is, don't use it anywhere else.
Oops forgot about your AK problem.
Sounds like the battery is warming up to me. Might want to get a new battery.
also clean your motor
I am buying a KWA youespee SUPER TACTICAL and I need help on keeping it in tip top shape.
Can you do a step-by-step tutorial thing of what I do as soon as the package arrives at my doorstop?
I'm clueless when it comes to gebeebees
fill it with chocolate milk.
Good news for you, GBB's are super easy to maintain, all you need is copious amounts of lube (depending on the model/manufacturer) and you're basically good to go.
KWA's require no upgrading just about ever, so when some part breaks you just replace it with an original part.
Basically, you want to lubricate anywhere that's moving, take off your slide and make sure you lube the slide and frame, occasionally add lube to the valve on the magazines. Basically, anywhere you see paint scraping and signs of wear, just add a bit of lube to the area.
Clean your barrel with a fair amount of frequency (don't lube it though or you'll coat the hopup in lube which will screw up your shots for a while).
Most any part of a GBB is designed to have lube on it, so don't be too worried about getting it where it doesn't belong. When you think everything is adequately lubed, put the slide back on the frame and cock it a few times, make sure its a very smooth action.
When you first get it, expect it to be over greased in a few areas and under lubed in others, just borrow some spray lube and cover the basic areas(slide and frame really). After that you're all set to go. Semi regular maintenance is easy and cheap to do and is not a pain in the ass at all.
P. much just run silicone oil through it regularly, and on occasion put some silicone grease on the seals and the slidy bits.
Its kinda funny you coming back right before I go to buy parts for my gun
Good to see you back again.
One last question: If I can't find the aluminium piston head in stock, would I be able to go with the "Systema Duracon Piston Head with Thrust Bearing" one? (I think it's plastic or whatever)?
If not, how about the Prometheus POM piston head?
What parts would you need to upgrade a JG BAR-10 into something accurate at about 250ft cheapest
A lot. Are you considering getting one or does someone you know already have one?
Someone else i know (dumbass) bought one as a first gun.
and i gotta felling he wont like it and want to get rid of it.
And i want him to upgrade it
okay seriously question. right now i have one half-functioning AEG (my AKSEVENTYFOUR)
what should i buy to make my airsofting less sad and deprived
1. KWA USP + Mags
2. Cyma AKS-74U + Mags + rosshia gear
King Arms mags are generally shit tier, right?
Depends, King Arms MP5 midcaps are the best MP5 mags around.
Fuck, awkwardly ninja'd.
lodes e batteries and fix your AK.
Side arms aren't really needed. Most of the time its faster to just pop a new mag in then to get your side arm out.
If you want cheap batteries go here: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/index.rc
so not really "halfway" functioning..
i also have 2 batteries already and only play at cqbcity so i don't need to worry about that~~
I'd get a sidearm because of how CQB city works, no MED is real nice to have. You could probably run sidearm only there pretty effectively. However, if you're not 100% set on the USP, I'd consider a cheaper sidearm and putting a bit of cash into your AK.
okay here are my options in more details:
PISTOL MAN 3000
1. KWA USP TACTICOOL
2. 3-4 CLIPAZINES
3. Not enough dollar for holster. Will use vest-pouch like a poorsofter.
UNITED STATES ROSSHIA
1. CYMA AKS-74U
2. 3-4 EASY BAKELITE MAGAZINES (MIDCAPACETEY)
3. Flora or other rosshia camo
4. Alice shit because smersh is expensive
Eh sidearms are fun but imo it's better to have a functioning primary since it can be used for longer ranges.
Plus gbb's have expensive mags, and don't work in winter.
I don't have alice, but i'd also throw a vote for it.
i can't find any good vests that are good for me
my chest rig feels fucking awkward, full vests make me really hot, and the open vest foose showed me is out of stock everywhere
so i might give up and just go with alice because i already have some alice stuff laying around, unless you guys can help me the fuck out
I have a pretty awesome chest rig, works pretty well
the issue with that one is that it's just like, saggy and looks like it doesn't have enough straps to secure it
Notrabies I play cqb too.
No MED with pistol is dumb too imo but whatever it's the field's rules..
I guess get a pistol, If I ran mine more I'm sure I'd have more bias towards it.
The commando chest rig is terribly mediocre so I know that feeling.
oKEAY help me think of gear ideas
