Can't wait for comcast to rape us.
I started doing that regularly on my 55/10 VDSL before I moved house.
I actually got a call from my ISP to do more.

Does a windows 8.1 recovery work for windows 8? My mates HP laptop is just on base 8 I think and my desktop PC is 8.1 so not sure if the recovery will work on his laptop?

It's my server so you can just use a download manager, if that doesn't work Microsoft have a download manager of their own where you can download ISO's if you provide a serial i believe, but i never used that myself

guys, i need a bit of help.

since this morning, my modem and router arent talking anymore. the LAN LED on the modem doesnt light up (it only blinks once, briefly) when its connected to my router's internet (ethernet) port.

i connected it to the pc, quickly configured a pppoe connection with windows and i can now post here.

if i set up a bridge and/or pppoe connection and switch my modem to my router, the LAN LED doesnt light up.

    modem is a TD-8816 and router is a DIR-600.

help me, sipwic-wan kenobi. youre my weekend's only hope.

Not that that is not what comcast provides you. That's the page off the asus router firmware.

You need to login to the comcast website to see what you used on their end, so I just log into the router, it's easier.

Also, most is upload because I'm still doing my crashplan backup, but along with that the upload is slow. Crashplan only uses like 1/3rd of my upload.

I got really close to a complete Hackintosh laptop. After 12 hours of work. Audio, full graphics acceleration, CPU speedstep, Wifi, all working correctly.

However, DSDT had a few issues so brightness control, AC and battery detection, sleep and such didn't work at all. And I couldn't get my modified DSDT to work. So FUCKING close.

Welp, back to Windows 7 it goes.

The last time I have that problem is when my house had a lightning strike that trip the breaker and it kills the modem and the router internet port. The router itself can still be used as a switch and access point

Normally I'd agree but my ISP supplied Netcomm NF4V is the best modem/router combo.
Fight me assholes and I will literally come over there with it and demostrate how great it is for a N Router/Modem. :^)

The Pi is at it's best when it's controlling some sort of hardware. That's where it really shines. For example as a carputer media system, or commanding a robot or some sort of assembly device. Hell, our 3D printer runs off a Raspberry Pi, it's the perfect place for one. Think of them as Arduino Plus.

Oh, here's a really fucking awesome bug.

Wal-mart has a Hobart digital scale for weighing and pricing products. It's nice and fancy and all (even has an ethernet interface) but it has one AWFUL bug.

If for any reason the scale detects a negative weight (usually caused by the machine bouncing on the table when something heavy is dropped like say, a frozen turkey) the digit value overflows and it resets itself. You better fucking hope you saved your settings as a preset because it's going to reset itself over and over and over again.
