Just as I was thinking of getting the HTC One, The Verge says the battery won't last a day if you use it (The video at 5:50). ("It will last a day but only with really light use and some serious optimization")

And the camera isn't THAT great.
What do you guys think? Are all current smartphones utter shit?
The Verge is full of shit on battery, unsure on camera.

Wait for Anandtech's review, Brian Klug has clearly said that battery life on the HTC One is not an issue in the slightest.

    Edited:

Also Brian Klug sounds like he's rather optimistic about the camera. No idea how things will pan out, but he majored in optics, so I'm guessing he knows what makes a camera good or not.

Is there an app for sending sound from the PC to the android device via USB?
I'm asking cause my phone has a soundcard vastly superior to my PC, and I'd like to have proper damn bass when I listen to music and play games.

if you want more bass just do this

or leave 31 and 62 where it is and drag the others down.

How much of a difference is there? I've got a Voodoo'd i9000 and an old computer with onboard audio. The difference in audio quality is negligible however I don't have high end speakers/headphones

Seems to be wireless only, so there will be a delay.

The difference between the phone and the PC?
My phone: I'm able to have the bass be so stupidly powerful to the degree where it becomes too much and uncomfortable. (Though of course I limit it to a point where it actually sounds good )
My PC: Imagine having an amplifier and turning the bass knob all the way to the left. Yeah that's how it sounds. No bass at all.

I tried sending the sound from my PC through my phone via some wireless (and delayed) app.
Guess what? Still no god damn bass.

It just seems like the computer actually doesn't produce any bass, as if it mutes the bass.

This isn't android related anymore though, so I'll continue it in the Quick Questions tread.

I'm looking for a theme for Hellybean on Captivate that reduces most everything to thin wireframes/vector lines with a black background. Something so utterly simple that the Captivate will use the least amount of battery/horsepower possible.

Alternatively I guess I could just learn how to theme shit but I figured I'd ask first.

After a whole adventure of bricking, flashing, fastboot, bin files, KDZ files, CWM, TWRP, battery removing, battery inserting (x10000) and holding all possible key combinations at boot I finally did it.

My Optimus 3D is running ICS and everything seems to work, including 3G and 3D.
It's official, the Optimus 3D now has ICS ready and available. It's only released in China, but that doesn't have to be a problem if you know how to flash.

Now that my phone has ICS, it is slightly less shitty. Can I live with my phone a bit longer and wait for the next batch of high end phones? I'll use my phone for a couple of days and I'll see. So far the improvements look like they're huge.

LG finally did something right update wise, but they're still motherfucking cunts for taking so long.

You will need to flash the ROM and then root, and then change your CSC back to *OPS* (Australia).

EDIT: if you're not comfortable with these things, I would suggest not doing it since all the 4.1.2 ROMs have non-Australian CSCs, which may possibly soft-brick your phone until you can change the CSC. Although I'm not sure how much influence the CSC has on actually being able to connect to a network.

EDIT: actually, Australia has multiple CSCs, so before you flash anything, dial *#1234# and write down your exact CSC (the three letters after "I9100" are most important).

yeah, mine's XSA, I already got that

but you might be right, I'll give it a miss since I don't know enough about all this to be confident

I'm not sure I want to do anything that wont be reversible anyway
