    I guess this is one of the many reasons why you shouldn't procrastinate on your work so much. Everyone forgets after a couple of Emporiums.

    That thing is partially wrapped in fabric straps. Everything that is partially wrapped in fabric straps is awesome. Ergo, that is awesome.
    (The dragon engraving and hanzi'd shells help, too. Slightly)

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Don't do it ever!
    If you use Blender, the "Edgesplit" modifier
    I know I'm a few pages late, but I want to point out that one of you is thinking of the wrong thing.

    I think Zebus is thinking of turbo-smooth. Which is for breaking quads down into smaller quads and smooths out corners. Which can be used to great effect if you know what you're doing.

    Petachepas, you're thinking of what would be smoothing groups in Max or Maya. Which is required so that model doesn't turn into a blobby mess.

    I hope this clears things up, Totenkreuz.

    Coincidentally, I taught Petachepas and Totenkruez both to use Edgesplit. Toten didn't listen :(

    Also, I'm extremely tired right now, so uh, I might not be thinking straight, but before I go to school, do you guys have any feedback on this or is it ready for texturing?

    I have a question. Would a contraption of homemade explosives strapped to the Demoman's back be an excessively tasteless weapon? I don't think so, considering there's already a suicide bombing kill taunt in the game, but I figured it would be a good idea to ask your opinions before drawing an idea sketch.

    not bad, but I have a few criticisms.

    The cracks on the two handles look pretty good, but on the rear block and front shield look too wide to make sense - thicker objects tend to chip instead of split like you have modelled.
    The tube bulges near the rear, which looks odd. The exhaust dosn't seem to be attached in any way, maybe make the join thicker to show some overlapping material

    Ok, time to throw some more ideas out there to see if anything sticks. You know the drill; I'm happily surprised and sufficiently grateful if someone wants to model something I come up with, but I'm not disappointed if no one does.

    First, a Demoman shield that better matches the Pain Train and Ullapool Caber. I suppose I could have just taken a picture of a manhole cover from GIS, but I'm a man of dedication who will not spare any effort! (Also, I didn't think of it until after the pic was made and scanned)

    Secondly, as I got one 'seems fine' and no objections, here are the homemade explosives.

    I just noticed that the Nanobalaclava's LODs are a little screwed up. The hat gets noticeably blocky (and clips with spy's head) just a couple of meters away.

    Could one of you talented gentlemen possibly try to fix this?

    Here's the QC I made for a set of Hermes sandals for the Scout, which can be seen here:

    Code:
    $modelname "player/items/scout/0x0221e6ed/hermeshightops/hermeshightops.mdl"
    $model "Body" "hermeshightops.smd"
    $cdmaterials "/models/player/items/scout/0x0221e6ed/hermeshightops"
    $hboxset "default"
    $hbox 0 "bip_knee_R" 0.000  -2.588  -4.351  20.741  1.360  1.796
    $hbox 0 "bip_foot_R" -2.167  -0.905  -2.508  2.065  7.435  5.480
    $hbox 0 "bip_toe_R" -2.167  -1.000  -2.361  2.191  5.226  1.411
    $hbox 0 "bip_knee_L" 0.000  -1.360  -4.351  20.741  2.588  1.796
    $hbox 0 "bip_foot_L" -2.065  -7.435  -5.480  2.167  0.905  2.508
    $hbox 0 "bip_toe_L" -2.191  -5.226  -1.411  2.167  1.000  2.361
    $surfaceprop "cloth"
    $illumposition -0.00 3.050 27.040
    $sequence idle "hermeshightops.smd" loop fps 30.00
    $lod 24
    {
    	replacemodel "hermeshightops.smd" "hermeshightops_lod1.smd"
    }
    $lod 32
    {
    	replacemodel "hermeshightops.smd" "hermeshightops_lod2.smd"
    }
    As far as rigging it goes, I decompiled the Scout's playermodel and looked at the vertex groups the legs bodygroup used. It actually wasn't that hard at all.

    Maybe have the meter as Dabs of paint? Just to make it look more like a hidden pallet. And no crack, ruins the pallet shape imo.

    I don't like that the palette is build to be a disguised cloaking device, but the brush is just a broken brush. What if you made them both to look like build to be disguised Spy weaponry instead of made from scrap? Like a blade coming from end of the brush instead of it being broken, losing the tally marks on the palette and make them both look carefully crafted with no extra cracks.

    Its probably best to compile stuff yourself instead of relying on sdk's itemtest (assuming you are talking about that and not the itemtest map). The sdk itemtest, as far as I know, is still very broken for a lot of things.

    I like this, but broken stuff doesn't really suit the Spy. A spy-tech pallet would fit to a tee, though.

    I don't get it, after making lots of posts about my item, people start to say it isn't good once I release it to the workshop? O_o Oh well I am on the first page for the week (Which I am super excited about) so I guess I can't complain . To me it shows I am getting better at modeling. Pretty good for a 16 year old I always say. ;D

    Regardless of what others have been saying I am trying to rig it on the demo man, which is a lot harder than I thought since the demoman's arms are so tiny! Does anyone have a better name for the item?
