    Doomseeker really makes me want to scream and throw a temper tantrum.
    (So does most networking.)

    The exact same shit that works in every other game for me hosting a server, doesn't.
    The exact same shit that use to let me host servers and play with friends, won't.
    The exact same shit for tutorials and help boards are all entirely fucking useless.

    I can join my own game locally, but I can't online.
    The server absolutely refuses to be recognized via the master list or online.
    All my ports are forwarded. 10666 to 10750, along with 15300. I've tried the same ports that I was using for Synergy yesterday, no go.
    Yes, I obviously have a static IP because I do this shit all the time in Source/Killing Floor.

    plot twist: Doom 4 is actually just a repackaged version of Swan Fox Demonsteele with an official branch of gzdoom. the netplay code is still terrible. everyone confused by that turn is told that "anime is the bright bold direction for the franchise" and that "id is exploring new horizons". MRAs are mad because both playable characters are female, saying "if I wanted to play a game about a girl, I'd play "Doomgirl" and that it's a "covert feminization of one of the most manly games in experience, which featured shit like tearing people in half and tons of blood man". Polygon releases fifteen articles about the game, both praising it for its perceived feminist values, and criticizing it for the violence. one article is titled "how Doom 4's gameplay actually has no depth at all", and the body of the article depicts an attempt to beat the game by just standing in place on e1m1. Gamergate 2, or Doomgate happens; as fans of the old, fans of the new, neckbeards, girls who happen to play games and have no opinions about that bullshit but are still expected to, the non-gaming press, and Anita Sarkeesian collide, eventually the DDoSing starts happening. due to a mistyped IP address, the attack is received by a freshly re-staffed Russian nuclear bunker instead of some minor game journalist's house in Arizona. the fresh conscripts panic, overwhelm the well meaning but outnumbered officers, and start launching missiles.

    From the radioactive ashes of the internet, a new breed of shitposters is reborn. stuck in our shelters, cut off from the world, the only access and lane of communication we have is the sad remainders of the world wide web. kept alive thanks to hardened undersea cables and EMP-proof new satellites, it keeps the dying lights of the world in a spider web, together.

    some say they roam the web. that sometimes, when you brave the ruins of Twitch, or head over to gaze at the [missing image] laden wastelands of Neogaf, or even Facepunch, where the gun control argument still crops up sometimes for a reason nobody quite knows (some say it's the ghost of a poster, stuck in the machine), you'll stumble upon them. Their names are simple, just "agitator" with an ever increasing number tacked on at the end. a "new message" sound will bleep, and you will click over to the icon.

    There'll probably be lots of mockery made of Bethesda if they announce that Doom 4 won't support mods. It'd basically prove that they can't even hold a candle against Doom(2)'s longevity.

    I am gonna be honest, I will be thoroughly surprised if it has mods, I am expecting it to not

    I am gonna be honest, I will be thoroughly surprised if it has mods, I am expecting it to not

    so really I can only be surprised here, because I already got the gut feeling and I've come to grips with it over a bowl of cereal.... yeah that's all it took, really.
    My dream version is one that's easily modded and can even import plain Doom levels wad-style, and even has a music switch between ambient and raw.

    The realistic version I'm expecting is going to be a jolly good romp, but the tools will be released so late into it's life and so convoluted that no one will bother doing anything with them.

    Brutal v20 have one gamebreaking thing for me - inability to reload the shotgun anytime you want.
    Back in v19 it always felt good to do a sweet "cha-ching" before jumping into a bunch of enemies.

    So I found the issue with Doomseeker.


    For the first time ever in all my years of hosting servers, Windows Firewall, which is disabled, was actively blocking Zandronum. gee-fucking-gee.

    All fixed now.

    Not to derail the topic here, but just a small little piece of content.

    I mentioned a year or two ago, about remaking the blood weapons as close as possible for use in G/ZDoom as a modder's resource.

    Now just like Duke's weapons, I'm working on it again, this animation is not 100% accurate to the Blood one (Mine recoils DOWN instead of Blood's UP) but I think it gives the same sense of power and speed and I am very happy with it.

    I don't know if anyone knows about it, but there's a PS1 FPS called Disruptor, it uses 2D things/3D environment like Doom (only I think the engine is true 3D since there are floors over floors and diagonal map elements). Has anyone investigated into ripping the weapon or enemy sprites? Playing the game, I could see someone finding good use for them. Cool almost 80's sci-fi action movie looking guns.



    It's also pretty damn fun, I just wish I could use a mouse.

    this is probably the wrong thread to ask (in fact I doubt anyone on this forum knows) but does anyone have any super high quality rips of Gears of War sound effects? Specifically the enemies

    I really need them for a wad project I wanna continue making


    I'm making a wad based on mid-2000s shooters like Gears of War and Bulletstorm, and it mixes both of the game's assets. It's hyper violent (I plan on moreso than Brutal Doom, like tenfold) to the point of absurdity, and to get the full effect I'd love to have GoW's assets. It's designed around hyper, insanely oozing, aggression, to levels in Doom wads we usually don't see.

    but, uhhhm.. where are the stuff like the Boomer "boom" quotes? I also wanted the Locust dialog, since I am using the Bulletstorm enemy dialog as well for some of the enemies. Would you happen to know where those are? Otherwise everything else I needed is in here
