Fairly sure they're transferring data from one server to another, they said something about this on a FAQ? Your old hours will return after a while.

Well steamworks is public now I guess.

They announced last night in a private forum for developerís on Steam Greenlight that the Steamworks SDK is now available to any developer who wishes to make use of it [...] Valve say will become public knowledge later on.

Does this mean it can be hooked into any source mod (or other moddable engines possibly), and allow you to use matchmaking, achievements, and other Steamwork features?

You still need a game on Steam, through either Greenlight or Valve themselves to actually use the features Steamworks offers.

Come on Valve what did you expect when you opened the whole public partners side of SteamWorks; that no one would poke around? No HL3 unfortunately.

Meh I was being an asshole and very reckless; it's not a perma-ban. Just can't redeem cd-keys or use the market. I'm not too worried about it. They only got me this time because I actually violated their TOS; I did all that achievement leak stuff in the past but that wasn't really a violation of their TOS.

Yes, but they should check their software for potential bugs like this. You can't trust the end-user to do ANYTHING... Or, rather, you CAN expect them to do EVERYTHING.

This is why you Check. Your. Systems!

Good Lord, it's basic web development stuff! You'd think a company like Valve would understand this by now. Making it a violation of the ToS is lazy development, and whatever loon did that should be fired... Or given a stern talking to by Gabe.

Yeah I referenced the app id when you posted that like an hour ago. It looks like it was put onto steam as a source game and had the master servers activated for it, then disabled them and then renamed it. I wouldn't go so far as to say anything development wise has changed. There were a few decently large conventions a few months ago and it was possible Valve was showing the game off on Steam behind closed doors. It wouldn't really make sense to develop the game actively on Steam with the amount of openness there is to the public.

Considering how the servers for it were turned on for roughly a week, I'd say the game is being tested at least.

Yeah but Valve has always had lots of holes in their software; and we've emailed them about it before but nothing really seem to happen unless you publicly expose it; which is unfortunate. I found all of this by just running herp/derp/*appIDhere* += 1. I mean it was a bit more specific than that but barely. Basically I'm an idiot and if I could find this then anyone could...

When doing any sort of network testing, you SANDBOX it. Do it on a server connected to an intranet, and if you need the volume, you have it run PARALLEL to your main network on your servers.

Valve was asking for it, did you see the way they were dressed?
