    Most of these skies up here are just edited from CGTextures, which hands out cubemaps of the sky for free. You can definitely work just out of Vue 8, I do some skies that way, but they end up looking stylized and cartoony most of the time, which isn't always wanted. I suggest layering and painting stuff into renders for the best result. I'm very proud of what I did for Nightmare House 2, which is a bunch of renders, paint, and pictures layered together. It should be coming out in a week or two so check it out.
    I will, I don't like the cartoony TF2 style, which is probably why I struggle a lot of the time with stuff straight out of vue.

    Some of it also comes out a bit.. surreal. Perhaps you could suggest how I can improve on mine if you don't mind? (If you don't want it in the thread I can PM you instead)

    Obviously you need to be a good mapper to use skybox textures. :/

    You just place them in your L4D2 materials/skybox folder, should work fine. That's all I did.

    Also I downloaded them from garrysmod.org, you just have to look up the name of the sky and you should be able to find it, then just place them in materials/skybox.

    Erm. Left 4 Dead 2 has a better way of handling skyboxes with no ldr fallbacks. (only one set of textures and vmt files) The old skyboxes will work, but imo you should download that left 4 dead 2 skybox I supplied and change the vmts in the one you're using so you can save on file size. (PS: if there's a $color line in there, just ignore that.)

    ATTENTION: I got the syntax wrong in all the skyboxes. I will fix them all and let you know when they are safe to use. I am going to remove the skyboxes from garrysmod.org. Sorry for any inconvenience.

    (This is a tool skybox. There are no buildings. It turns the sky the color of the fog in your level.)

    Edit: and when i scan the .zip with my antivirus it says "scan completed on 9 items."

    You should be able to open it and extract the files to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\uaername\half-life 2 episode two\ep2\materials\skybox"
