ATLANTA – June 25, 2010 – Hi-Rez Studios announced today that Global Agenda is now 100% subscription free.

Purchasers of Global Agenda can enjoy the game’s full current content, including all current Player-vs-Player combat, Player-vs-Environment solo and co-op content, and Agency-vs- Agency seasons, without a monthly subscription payment now or in the future.

Future content updates will be delivered via optional paid expansions. The first major expansion, Sandstorm, will be included for free to the entire Global Agenda community.

To celebrate this change, the game is being offered for 33% off on Steam from now through July 5, as part of Steam’s Summer Sale. To purchase, visit the Global Agenda Steam Page.

"Hi-Rez Studios is committed to delivering the best value in PC gaming", said Todd Harris, Global Agenda Executive Producer. "In addition to including all of the game’s initial launch content for free inside the single-purchase price, we are bundling nearly 6 months worth of post-release content and features and including that within the single-purchase game. One purchase of Global Agenda let’s you experience all of this content forever with no subscription."

Global Agenda allows players to create and customize multiple agent characters, complementing FPS skills with accessible RPG-style progression. Players can co-op with friends online, compete in fast-paced multiplayer matches, and conquer persistent territory with player-formed groups called agencies. The large summer expansion, titled Sandstorm, adds weapon variation and loot, new epic weapons across every class and a brand new Open Zone area complete with quests and new missions. The first phase of Sandstorm was released in early June 2010, with the remaining phase to be released later this summer.

Try For Free – Players can download Global Agenda and play until level 15 with no payment or credit card required.

Buy Once - A single purchase enables you to play forever. Progress thru 50 character levels, access hundreds of weapons, and experience all current content and gametypes on our worldwide, hosted servers with no subscription required.

Play What Suits You - Global Agenda offers a wide range of content including solo and co-op PvE, Mercenary PvP, Agency-vs-Agency, Arena PvP and more.

    Oh god I came.

I was quite pissed that they started turning a good part of the game into sub only lately.

Holy shit. I bought this a few months back but I didn't play it much because I was disappointed that most of the key features were subscription-based but now I'm definitely gonna start playing more.

Aha, awesome. The subscription was the main thing that turned me off this game after Beta.

Is this worth getting? Cause 20$ for a shooter MMO seems pretty cheap but I really want to know if it's even remotely worth getting.

Try the demo. I'd say it's worth it but you may think otherwise.

I don't mind paid expansions in the slightest. As long as it meets Sandstorm's standards (Which will be higher considering how the expansions are paid) I'm perfectly fine with it.

    Edited:

Nope, the developers said they won't be going back to subscription fees in the future.

Try the trial, it's really a love or hate thing. Some people absolutely love the way the game is, while some people dislike all the things that others like about it. You'll either end up loving this game to the max, or end up bored by it. It really depends on your taste and standards.

And no, the quests aren't carbon copies.

Is this a sign of that the game is actually gonna die soon so they do this to try and get as many extra sales of the game before closing or is it actually going strong?

They realized that both current players and people on the edge of the game had one big dislike about the game: The subscription. In the end, they'll probably end up making more money form this. I hope it's not too late for this game to get an even bigger community. This game would have sold ridiculously well if it had no fees in the beginning.

Also, it turns out there will be only two things besides expansions that cost cash.

I'm absolutely fine with this. I'm glad to see they're taking a calm, none aggressive approach to this. It's simply something for players with limited time. It's not like it takes long to reach the limit or Level 50 anyway. And even then, it's a fun journey reaching those limits the way it is.

Good thing they aren't selling annoying in-your-face cosmetic items and such. Or $25 dollar mounts :smug:

To answer your question bluntly, Pinut, no. This game is nowhere near dead, and they've said they will back this game for a very, very long time.

This, it will certainly last longer. I hear Lead and Gold gets stale fast.

Oh good, I played this at release but stopped liking it as they made it more and more subscription requiring. Now I might considering playing it again. It was never worth MMO fees anyway.

Gonna try the trial now.. If it is good, I will definitely buy it because I have been looking for an MMO to get into for a while. I was going to wait for Star Wars TOR, and probably will still get it, but this may hold me off until then.

Played an Assault up to level 15. It was boring. Nothing ever changed from my level 5 loadout; The few weapons that get unlocked simply don't compete with the old ones. The gameplay is static and unchanging.

    Boring.
