Okay, so I have about 12gb of flac that I want to save and I need to know what the best compression software is. I'd like to compress it to the smallest size possible, even if that means it will take days. Thanks!

And you can also change the compression method to the highest possible.

I heard that 7zip is the best, but I'm not sure if there is anything better.

    Hot damn, thanks!

KGB takes too long to compress / decompress to be practical.
7zip LZMA is the best all rounder, closly followed by Rar-Highest.

Guys guys guys, more sources and pure facts.
Best compression software, to me it sounds like he wants the highest compressionratio, but that just might be me.
I know people prefer winrar or 7zip or whatever, but isn't this like, unessential?

Personally, I would love to see some sort of chart comparing different programs and such, found one a while ago but it didn't make sense to me.

Tried the KGB for a sec, heard of it before but I didn't download it at that time.
I keep staring att the numbers, trying to compress 1.4gb of various data..
    Final product?

    244.4 MB

I mean cmon, that's just disgusting.
Will take me 12 hours though, and I don't know how long the decompress will be, but damn..
Send the file in the evening to a friend, make him decompress it over night, the day after you are good to go, will do this later today.

The higher it's compressed generally the longer it'll take to decompress.
