Now let's watch the flood of people who disregard this study because it doesn't fit their viewpoint...
Nope, lets disregard the study because it comes from a source that looks about as reputable as InfoWars.

GOP wants more rights for american citizens,
    Ah- I see.

So that's the reason why the party is generally in favor of prohibiting abortion, same-sex marriage, assisted suicide, embryonic stem cell research and a plethora of other such issues...?

That's an extremely weird way of crusading for "more rights for American citizens".

remember it's the democrats threatening the first amendment with SOPA
    I don't remember that, actually.

But that's because SOPA was the brainchild of Republican Representative Lamar Smith of Texas (you know, the same guy that tried three times before to expand the DMCA's powers, tried to restrict abortion rights by voting in favor of the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, and managed to get onto the House's Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to perpetuate his beliefs in Christian Science?), not a Democrat.

Additionally, only four of the twelve people who sponsored it and even got it off the legislative runway, so to speak, were Democrats: Howard Berman and Adam Schiff of of California, John Conyers of Michigan, and Ted Deutch of Florida.

The eight Republican supporters were: Mary Mack and Elton Gallegly of California, Steve Chabot of Ohio, Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Tim Griffin of Arizona, Dennis Ross of Florida, and Lee Terry of Nebraska.

CISPA, which is due to be voted on this Thursday, is also the proposal of a Republican: Representative Michael Rogers of Michigan.

and the Second amendment with pretty much every gun control law ever.
Federal gun control laws like the National Firearms Act of 1934, Gun Control Act of 1968, Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990, and NICS Improvement Act of 2007 (to name a few prominent ones) do not threaten your Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

We're here to keep you morons from getting rid of our constitutional rights, not the other way around

First of all, if you're going to portray yourself as "intelligent" then don't use "you're" improperly. You've got some pretty sweeping generalizations in there as well. Not all Republicans are racist. I know a good few and to be honest they are honest good people. To paint the party as racist is retarded. Sure, some can be bigoted, but that goes for any party. Third, there is literally no reason to bring religion into this. One is not simply more intelligent than another due to their religious beliefs. Again, if you think that you're more intelligent than someone simply because of their private, religious beliefs then you've got another thing coming. While I do disagree with the views of the republican party, I don't find myself to be superior simply due to the fact that my alignment doesn't lie with them.

Get off your damned high horse.
Grammar does not equal overall intelligence (Shakespeare has been rumoured to be unable to write).
As for the sweeping statements I was trying to be satirical.

Regardless though, if you ever watched the news you would see people like Rick Santorum and uneducated parents whining about people's civil liberties because they disagree with them. Examples of what they attack are video games, homosexuality and internet people like you and me. You may have a point when it comes to the difference between political views and intelligence; but have you ever thought some views are caused by lack of intelligence. To some it up, most (not all) Republicans are too unintelligent to realise the difference between what they disagree with and what should be illegal.

The Second Amendment is there to allow us to overthrow the government if it ever comes to that, but how are we supposed to do that if the government has such vastly superior firepower? Only the richest gun nuts and preppers can even afford full auto weapons and those guns are all 50+ years old.

It does not necessarily exist to "overthrow" the government but to empower the people in general in such a way that an unhappy populace is highly undesirable for the regime.

The "overthrowing" the government thing is a bit of a misnomer. Washington squashed a number of rebellions throughout the new US, and there were plenty attempted overthrows that were quickly done away with under the Articles of Confederation whose lessons learned went directly into the drafting of the Constitution. The Founding Fathers did not so much believe in overthrowing governments on a whim, but instead allotting power to the general public such that they are an imposing force.

Of course, the "overthrow the government!" thing is great for rhetoric, it's also not accurate in a historical context.

And, as any good sociologist or surveyor will tell, you can very easily coach a study towards a result based simply on how you word it, conduct it, everything.
That and the questions are silly.

Recent republicans are not pro-small government at all. Besides all the conservative social issues they want to be made into laws that only a big gov can enforce, Bush expanded the government allot. Even Reagan sounds like a democrat at this point in time.

Heck federal Republicans period (such as Rick Santorum) are not small government at all. The only small government Republican I can think of is Ron Paul, and look how Republicans like him? They only want small government for things they like and big government for things they don't like.

Did you even read the article? Or better yet read the source study the article is about? This is the most warped article I have ever seen. The actual study is allot more informative than reason magazine's article.

Quite. Both sides, republican and democrat, are a little too far on their far sides. Not only do the liberal sides of each take the bad rap, but they are also rising. Their original intentions have been changing over the years. For example, the republican party, believe it or not, was in favor of abolishing slavery back in the day. Now, there's the majority-democrat biased media that keeps slamming anything remotely right-wing.

The poor choice of leaders is partially due to fault of democracy itself. You have idiots who vote for idiots. And to be fair, every one on the ballot for this year's elections are idiots.

Eh, no. Two things wrong with this.
The democratic party is not as lock-step as the republican party. While there are certainly some far-left politicians, they just don't have the same amount of support or backing that the republican party has in respect to far-right ideologies.
Also there is no democrat-biased media. The "liberal media" idea is one of the greatest lies neoconservatism has ever spun.
