" Stealth gameplay is the key as you find yourself trapped between two desperate armies in a race against time." -Steam Description

Ugh, not at all. this game provides almost no stealth and does not make me feel like a legitimate sniper but simply a man one man killing machine of death.

"Sniper's Choice - Players will often find themselves facing a choice of the perfect shot that leaves them catastrophically exposed or a more difficult route that means they can continue their mission."

Ehhh, havent seen that yet. Its been "Go here, now shoot".

Overall disappointed and not what I expected.

It feels incredibly rewarding to do some parts with stealth, even if it's easier to just shoot and sprint your way through people.

Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong: I've been looking through the leader boards, and I think i hold the longest shot [at least on the xbox board] at a distance of 561. Anyone got higher?

All my encounters have been under 300m so far. Yet to see an enemy spawn further away then that.
    Yet to finish game though.

I think the game is great, just not what I expected. I was thinking more Hitman style where I can go through the entire mission and only kill my target with a variety of methods to do it. But none the less I still think the game was worth the money I paid.

if I didn't know it was a gun demonstration video I could have mistaken that sound for a falling object

the most distinctive sound was it hitting the barrel, the actual sound does not sound like a gun

    you're right, but you're really over-exaggerating it

the game does have stealth, and I have gone through most of the missions sneaking past people and using my welrod, rocks and tripwires along with decoy bodies to get past people, using sound masking for my shots, the usual

the game does have stealth, but it isn't meant to be a stealth game, it is a sniping game

if you want a stealth game, go play splinter cell. don't hate the game because it isn't focused on stealth, rather it is just one of the elements that help you in your sniping quest.

maybe you're all just fantastic at the game, but I don't really like to reveal my position to an entire battalion of like 10-12 mp40 wielding germans on sniper elite difficulty, i usually kill most of them but its tedious and considerably unrealistic (but you don't want to die in 3 bullets, either)

also this is far-fetched but I think they may have made it a bit more linear considering some of the players may have been too stupid to know how to go about the mission or even complete it if they were unskilled at the game, which could affect sales in some way because "omg this game is like impossible and i keep dying" etc

    Edited:

I think the game is great, just not what I expected. I was thinking more Hitman style where I can go through the entire mission and only kill my target with a variety of methods to do it. But none the less I still think the game was worth the money I paid.
I think with all things considered having a more linear style to play was a better way to go, since it could set you up with more interesting and thoughtful scenarios that you could go about in a few ways, having it totally open would take away from it somehow, I don't know how to explain it but most open-world games I have played that have this general concept usually got boring for me

the game isn't totally linear, however, you do have quite a bit of choice in every area (for example, in mission 4, you could expose yourself to everyone on the ground or sneak into the apartments next to you and snipe people from there while masking your shots to the rocket collisions)

some of the levels are considerably open-ended though, like assassinate hitler and loads of the cooperative stages, i'm not going to list the specific missions single player wise because spoilers, but a lot of them had big open ended parts

    Edited:

But that's what a sniper is
a sniper relies on the element of suprise, so you are right

you're not a one-man killing machine of death, you're someone who is sniping from an asymmetrical vantage point where you have the advantage of range and they do not

if you're so concerned about being a lean, mean killing machine, try sniping the same battalion from 50 meters and see how you fair, maybe then you will realize how advantagous and effective sniping is

While I liked the game, I didn't like the way it was advertised.

"Use the Environment - The slightest changes in the environment need to be taken into account to move into the perfect position, observe the quarry, take the shot and slip away unnoticed."

Slipping away unnoticed is practically impossible in most of the missions (Flak Tower? Here, have a platoon of german soldiers running to your position immediately) and in the others all enemies turn hostile regardless.

I've never had a bigger "fuck you" moment in a game after I tried stealthing out in the museum mission but I guess I passed some sort of a checkpoint when a god damn TANK spawned next to me with four soldiers, instantly killing me.

you're playing on marksman, which is really easy and that likely caused you to rush through the entire campaign

the game is meant to be played on sniper elite, where you don't have any trajectory assistance, albeit any assistance like ghosts, etc

I am playing on sniper elite, have 17 hours and I am only on the 5th mission

Oh, playing the demo one last time.

Came to the two guys in the cafe and tried to shoot the guys cigarette. Shot him through the hand and into the second guy. As the third guy ran across the road the second guy, whose hand was fine by the way, ran towards him. I shot at the second guy again, killing him, but the bullet kept going towards the third. It missed the third completely by going between his torso and arm. He still fell over and died.

Do the kill triggers still work like this in the full game?

I like the community, people actually chat and congratulate eachother on nice kills and stuff.
Also had a bunch of people that played the entire evening, it was fun.

After some guy started dominating everyone, someone suggested teaming up. Sadly I wasn't of much use other than telling his location after getting killed by him but we got him a few times.

    And Kreuzberg in a nutshell

and tripwires. seriously what the fuck, 10 out of my 12 deaths were probably explosives.

Really liking the multiplayer, I do hope for some more maps though.
