I love how the theme for V2 is a remix of the first one. I loved the theme in the first one.

i could easily see this game being more opened up in the full game
I don't think it'd make sense to give you a perfectly linear map direction in a sniper game, at all.
You were forced to be more stealthy or else you get killed? What do you mean it has nothing to do with stealth?
Edited:
Target audience for this title isn't "hardcore" pc gamers. Its targeted to the same group that likes to not think.
They were too accurate. The devs like to put guys with MG34's on the top of buildings who were more accurate than the snipers were! Sure, camo was considered but poorly implemented. The only real times it ever came up is when you hid under stuff and even then the AI became clairvoyant after a bit and shot your ass to pieces. I'd also like to point out you comparing a DEMO LEVEL that for all intensive purposes looks like it was altered for the demo against an older game with frankly less than stellar stealth elements even for the day. Over-glorification at it's finest.
Except you being disguised never really came up all that often.
Honestly, apart from the health regen the gameplay remains fundamentally unchanged for the most part.
Too bad health regen ruins the entire premise of the game.
It probably wouldn't take much to mod it out if health regeneration bothers you this much.
No not really.
i've been playing SE1 for the first time since yesterday and I feel like a total prude to stealth. i've been playing on sniper elite difficulty and i feel retarded because i've been trying to make everything beyond perfect so i can flaunt off my amazing skills to myself. i played the first mission for like three hours yesterday over and over again to perfect it and i think i only beat it twice because i either majorly fucked up and died or... uh, i just majorly fucked up. i think that's what makes it so rewarding over-all.
i hope SE V2 has that kind of effect too. the demo makes it feel multi-linear because it tells you GO TO THIS VANTAGE POINT TO TAKE OUT TARGETS when it should obviously just tell you targets are marked here, take them out with whatever means necessary and it really, really ruins your ability to play how you want. in SE1 i have about ten different angles and possibilities to taking this guy out whereas in V2's demo I have a street with a few pieces of rubble that I can hide behind and a building that I've holed up in.
I think having medical kits would be better. Not the ancient "Walk-over-me-to-heal" kits, but one that can be withdrawn like a weapon and takes a few precious seconds to patch yourself up in the third person.
I agree,
However, apparently this entire thread disagrees with this.
Yes, we get it, you don't like the game.
You were judging the whole game on just this demo.
He was reviewing the demo.
I know, I just love the uniform he had.
i guarantee you p much everybody agrees with what i said
Oh my automerge.
the first game had that. although i kind of wished you would have an animation to bandage yourself up because you immediately max out your health again upon use and really you only use it when you're getting shot and are behind cover so you can pop back out and counter-slay the fucker gunning at you.
really, the way it should be is you're given a few bandages to stop bleeding and that's about it. you should get punished for getting shot more than anything that doesn't result in death because the whole concept of being a sniper is to leave the enemy on their toes yet completely unprepared.

and now that I reflect upon it, I notice the MG nest and open windows on the building to the left at the beginning of the game so I'm imagining more than likely all of that is opened up so you have a lot more capacity to maneuver about. One can dream!
No. I was definitely reviewing the demo.
Thats probably not actually the start of the mission.
With the way the MG nest is set up, though, it doesn't really cover anything. I wouldn't be surprised if the building you start in is gone completely.
I'm still really peeved that this game is Vista / Win7 only... It's just like with Battlefield 3 - a game that won't run on XP yet the shitty DirectX 9 Xbox 360 runs it just dandy, same as this.
Will have to break out the old Win7 hard drive I preconfigured last year some time. I know it's in a box here somewhere... Damnit.
Not sure if anybody has found this yet, but eh:
If you go around the back alleys you can see the same gate model put over paths and they don't look like they spent much time because there are huge gaps in some points.
My best guess would be that they took one of the levels and just blocked off areas to make it smaller and more direct.
Got this while playing yesterday.I wished we had more high powered scope in this one :(
Yeah, and in the same post I said "i could practically run and gun through the whole mission". Apparently Sniper Elite v2 demo isn't a game. You heard it here first.
If this was any more obvious it'd have a neon sign and a klaxon would be going off.
ye dude ha n1
never played anything in the series. I downloaded the demo and I can't stop replaying it.
the first game is pretty great too. the AI's pretty good other than they sprint pretty much everywhere and are godly accurate. and they pinpoint your location before even you know what's going on. and they'll run in what i'm assuming are precalculated paths so they won't really ever go and try to hunt you down. at least that's what i've noticed. so in the long run the AI really isn't that good to begin with and I'm an awful liar. but the game is pretty solid nonetheless.
solid is as in as solid as a wet turd. turd because it's unforgiving as fuck and you feel dirty when you get cheated and buttplugged by an armada of ruskies right at the beginning of the game because you did an oopsie.
If you're not just backpedaling and you actually mean this, then you should have realized that we weren't talking about the demo way earlier.
And explain this
You didn't say SE2 demo, you said SE2.
The Reichstag level is a good example of the godly accurate enemies and the Supply Depot level is a good example of the enemies following the same paths.

Also SE1 had it's fair share of linear levels and anyone who says otherwise is lying through their teeth.
Huh interesting. Gotta try that.
Holy shit, I just shot someone in the balls and as the bullet was exiting it hit a grenade. His entire crotch area caught fire.
How do oyu use the zoom levels?
Mouse wheel.
middle mouse scrollwheel
Well fuck mine is broken
