I think more games are doing DLC is because it's so accessible and easy to patch the game now, with Steam and all. If you buy the game retail, you buy the game retail on a disk and it can't be patched, I'm looking at AoE here, with all of it's huge content expansions. Though that just doesn't justify getting 5 new things in a 5 buck dlc.
DLC honestly sounds like something that fuck Bobby Kotick would've thought up
I do miss expansion packs though.
Probably get sins of a solar empires expansion just because its an expansion.
EDIT: i would like the Borderlands 2 DLC to be just like Borderlands DLC, with entirely different concepts(Zombie Island), a fun arena mode(Underdome), a shit ton of content(General Knoxx), and The Claptrap revolution one, which i haven't played yet.
So they release FUCKTONS OF DLC. They just release a lot of free updates and stuff as well, and in TF2 most of the DLC is obtainable without paying.
In Portal 2 however the DLC is buy-only. Although no one even understands why it has DLC in the first place.
Back in the day this content would have been included in the game.
Back in the day you'd be limited to 64k ram.
Gearbox does good, very good with DLC. See duke nukem forever's. And borderland's dlc was better than the actual game, so everyone chill, they got this.
