I think I burned myself out trying to make the perfect codebase for a game, after 4 years and barely getting anything on the screen.
I know what this feels like. Being so fixated I am, I decided to write a game in a custom C-like language which would compile the game and compile the compiler itself, and also be the scripting language for the game.
Kind of like a "C with classes", but also with proper string support.

It would actually look quite like Dart.

face-independent transparency, color, and texturing all batched into a single draw call with depth testing~
They should all still be able to move around independently while still being batched together, and if I ever implement any other meshes they should be able to be batched as well.
But the depth testing isn't accurate for intersecting objects. I still have to do more research into that.

Still can't figure out a way to do texture scaling&offsetting, but it's fun to experiment with this kind of stuff.
Animated textures should be possible... But I can't think of a reason why I would use animated textures at the moment, so fuck that.

Kind of like a "C with classes", but also with proper string support.
    so C++?

I have to switch to another image hoster every few months. The first one closed, the second one didn't allow gifs for free users, and now I was quite happy with imgur and **** happened.

Nothing that special so far, but I wanted to share my progress. This is a tile-based, turn-based 2D engine, sort of component-based (has no inheritance, but components contain logic).

It is designed especially for puzzle game, but may work well with roguelikes or strategy games.

The tiles are stored in a 2D array, for faster access, but it wouldn't be hard to change to an hash and allow "unlimited" tiles. An unlimited number of entities is allowed on a tile.

Sorry for the poor english, it is not my first language.

The game I'm creating with my engine is a clone of another game, DROD, which you can find at http://drod.caravelgames.com

I haven't used it much, but localhostr seems to work well.
From their terms of service page:
    Code:
Image files are given priority for retention and are usually not removed unless for violation of the terms above.
All other files reside on the localhostr servers for 30 days or until we need to recover disk space, which ever comes first.
Priority for deletion is given to files that have never been downloaded.
Files attached to user accounts hold the highest priority and are currently not deleted under any circumstance.

Tracked down some annoying numerical errors that were making me access the wrong chunk. It's annoying that float->int cast always rounds towards 0, but I guess it makes sense, thinking about the way that floats are stored :/

Anyway, block selection: fixed-step raymarch at the minute, just making sure that top level block access is working fine.

    Maybe DDA next?

    Edited:

Ignore the title bar, those chunk coords are wrong.

I'm working on an Android application that requires the user to take a picture and I found out Android versions < ICS don't support continuous auto-focus for a proper preview. I could call the auto-focus function every second in a timer, but that gets really annoying, so I had to get clever.

I'm now using the accelerometer to detect when the device is still, which triggers auto-focus. That means that whenever you move the phone to a new orientation or place and hold it still there, the auto-focus is triggered, just like it should!

Also, the problem was that people were posting imgur images even though a large number of people couldn't see them. This way, that doesn't happen anymore.
