I never understood Tumblr because 90% of people's "blogs" is just reposting other people's blogposts and commenting a line of text. Couldn't you just have a commentbox in the original post for that or something?

That's about the reason I stopped using facebook frequently, because of people linking to 9gag memes and demotivationals and crappy youtube videos instead of actually talking about what they're doing with status updates.


That said, good decision. It's never good to promote bulimia, anorexia, or any form of self harm.

An online petition to try to stop Tumblr removing blogs has been signed by more than 1,600 people.

It reads: "We simply post this content because it is an accurate representation of our own thoughts and feelings that we would not otherwise be able to express: to us it is a form of therapy."

get an actual therapist and vent at him instead of posting about how much you puke and cut yourself on a public blog anyone can read and take the wrong way

For some reason they don't have a real system for commenting. It seems like it would add a lot of interaction and be fairly simple to implement.

Yeah, I know you're thinking "We don't want those people in anyway", and there's nothing wrong with that. But banning it altogether is a bit different from filtering it away. And this is only the first step, why should Tumblr stop here, when there's more shit to ban?

It's way more time-consuming and expensive to filter it as you have to have people look through every post looking for self-harm content.
And, they can ban whatever they want, it's their servers and system.

I know that they can do pretty much what they want, to the extend of the law, but it's just sad that they have decided to go down the censoring route.
