OK, I know this is going to sound like bullshit but here i go anyway: the tech guy at our school set a password for the admin account on my computer, but then he got fired and a new one came in. The admin password is lost with him, and i really need to get into the admin account so i can restore a bunch of files that someone deleted on my computer. I can't run the installer because it is blocked by the sysadmin prompt, and it is REALLY important that i get those files back. any help would be really appreciated.

Ask school is they still have connections with the previous guy, if they do, call him. Retrieve password, then call the new one a fucking idiot.

when i was there he tried to call him, he didn't pick up and apparently never called back a week later.

I also remember using a tool called 'NT Password recovery/reset', no idea what is it's full name though.

Should take you about 5 minutes. If the bios has a password too and you can't boot to disk, remove the cmos(?) battery for 30 seconds.

The bios password can be reset on most computers by opening cmd.exe or command.com and typing this:

debug
o 70 2e
o 71 ff
exit

(Doesn't need a admin account)

If he doesn't know a pretty simple Windows exploit then I'm guessing that he uses Windows.

I don't see how that logic makes any sense?

Either way, I already guess that his school uses Windows, but it should be obvious that I am asking the version instead

Don't do anything by law he has to turn over any documentation the company requests, tampering with it will only fuck things up

There's some tool on Ultimate Boot CD that I always use, it's probably NT password.
