Thats horrible, anyway impossible as long as the World Wide Space Arms treaty stays in place.

Some good ol' play with the good ol' moon. Most've you've probably already seen it but it's neat.

Some nice pictures
I wonder what sort of requirements/qualifications they want to work there? The careers page doesn't really go into any sort of requirements.
They said in the livestream "if you're just interested in work - then don't look into Planetary Resources.
However, if you're like us - willing to put your life and everything in your life down and be the worlds most dedicated, you're free to contact us" or something along those lines.
No, it doesn't really qualify as a WMD, even though it could destroy cities, ironic but it doesn't use atomic, chemical, or biological characteristics.
Someone's gonna break the treaty anyway.
took this with my scope a while ago, need to do more steady imaging so I can get some colour
jupiter w/ 4 moons
They said they wanted their company to consist of only a handful of engineers. And that they only wanted to attract the very best engineers this planet has to offer.
I saw the moon finally through my scope, its really pretty at any magnification
the clouds acted as a moon filter so it came out nice at 75x
I don't have any camera mounts or anything
Edited for cloud cover

I'm really interested in astronomy. Thought about taking physics, then advance through that.
Does anyone know a web site where they lecture astronomy? Tasks and stuff?
Better start focusing more on my education then!

^Good read.
A picture made by Planetary Resources to demonstrate their plans, cant wait to see how this turns out!
I'm majorin' in Aerospace engin, but as of now, I'm in aeronautical emphasis, not astronautical, but space is amazing, so I'm thinking of switching over. Just looking at some of these images is inspiring...
Edited:
Also, just read the alcubierre drive idea. Awesome idea, but the problems mentioned in the article are pretty substantial.
Guys, I'm really starting to regret switching out of Aerospace.
I can't tell what I want to do, and if I switch back that's another year of college.
I'm in Aerospace Eng as well, it's a lot of fun, it's definitely worth it not only for the fun of the study, but also knowing that with high marks, decent personal skills, and lots of experience, you can actually work at a place like Planetary Resources/somewhere similar.
No chance you have a higher res version of that?
EDIT: Never mind, found it myself - http://static.ow.ly/photos/original/Aj3D.jpg Pretty keen to get a poster version of it
This sounds pretty awesome, I hope it'll get space exploration back on its feets.
I quite like the idea of self-sufficient space colonies, perhaps it could be put to use there ?
What happened to the space elevator idea, though ? Are they still looking for a material light and robust enough to support its own weight ?
Just found this video:
Fantastic stuff.
Star last bros how's the mount on yours? I hate mine
Edited:
Is that the 4.5 or 6?
Would anyone care to see a picture of my sun telescope?
What's up space chat general. Did any of you catch the landing of the Enterprise in New York?
You've been looking at the sun?
the sun looks neat with a solar filter on a scope
Yes. I have a special telescope to look at the sun.
I got pictures that I'll upload soon if you want
Would be awesome if you could upload.
SpaceX will do a static fire test on April 30th, and they will livestream it.
The webcast, available at spacex.com, is set to begin at 2:30 PM ET/ 11:30 AM PT, with the actual static fire targeted for 3:00 PM ET/ 12:00 PM PT.
The countdown will proceed as normal and the 9 merlin engines will fire at full thrust for two seconds, before being shut off again.http://www.spacex.com/press.php?page=20120427
So basically they're going to launch it but keep the thing clamped down? That's going to be intense. Speaking of SpaceX, would you happen to know when the Falcon Heavy will be ready for testing?
Yes.
And a Falcon Heavy launch test is planned for late 2013 or early 2014.
In between there's a lot of cargo missions to the ISS and some other stuff.
Will the Dragon use the same kind of engines as the Falcon Heavy?
The Dragon is the capsule which is launched with the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launch vehicles.
Dragon:
A few planned Falcon vehicles (and a Saturn V):
The Falcon Heavy does use the same engines as the Falcon 9.
Holy hell the XX is massive.
It's crazy to think it's the equivalent of a building flying into space.
Well:
![]()
The XX is basically the big ben with boosters strapped to the bottom.
Do they actually have a timeline for anything bigger than the Falcon Heavy or are they just drawings of future ideas that might not even happen.
Edited:
I suppose they need the money from successful ISS launches to really get anything bigger yet.
As far as I know there are no solid plans for the Falcon X vehicles yet.
What to paint this weekend
for Big Ben in orbit
for Apollo 17 on a launch pad
for Neil DeGrasse
for a new, non-realistic painting style painting of Carl Sagan.
Apollo 17 just after liftoff.
It's the only Saturn V to be launched at night.
Why do you think I chose that one specifically?![]()
Sorry, bro. Astromaster 114EQ, so 4.5
Makes it so beautiful
also America separating from the Challenger
Apollo 17 of course.
Do you happen to know how this photo was taken?
