Record Store Day is a special event where various records stores all over the world get special record releases in stock, and have special shows in the stores themselves.
The 2012 edition of record store day is being held at April 21st, current list of releases can be found here: http://www.vinylcollective.com/recor...day-list-2012/

I myself am currently flipping my shit over the new Death Grips LP, and the repress of Mclusky's Mclusky Do Dallas.

News about the next Record Store Day, and any upcoming events, can be found on the official site. http://recordstoreday.com/Home

I'm pretty excited for the Death Grips and Mclusky LPs too. Oh, and the Sigur Ros' "Hvarf/Heim" reissue, considering how expensive and rare Sigur Ros LPs get, it would probably be a good investment.

The store I work at participates in this, gonna reserve the records I want in advance so they don't get sold before I got a chance to check them out. :V

I'll be getting the new Death Grips album and The Flaming Lips collab album. Maybe the split with Mastodon just cause that's neat.

i have a significant doubt that the guys who own independent record shops in hull know what an "internet" is lol. All three of the ones I go to keep all their stock records on paper and one of them still has a mechanical till lol.

Apparently there are 2 record stores in Memphis that are participating in this, so I'm definitely going to check it out.
They're all in midtown, though, which is just entirely hipsters for the most part.

I definitely want that Mastodon split and Sigur Ros record.

Wish I knew how much money some of these things were. I'd like to get some stuff, but I'm not sure how I can budget them with my $200 RSD/Concert money for that month.

    Looking to pick up:

The Flaming Lips - The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends
Death Grips - The Money Store
Animal Collective - Transverse Temporal Gyrus (maybe)

and maybe Grimes - Visions if it's just hangin' around.

This has the suggested prices for most of the releases:

It might be more or less, but this shows about what you should expect to pay

The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends is $36
Animal Collective 7" thing is $16

I expect The Money Store to be reasonable too.

Oh those aren't bad, the things I want are about what I would expect them to be.
I just want the Mastodon splits and either Paul Simon's Graceland or the Sigur Ros thing.
