I can see this new portal 2 tool being useful because you can block out a level in it, and bring it into hammer for further refinement to the level geometry.

That is what i am going to be using it for mainly.

God damn why do mappers insist on using a stand alone flickering light in rooms.

All these zombie survival maps are making my eyes hurt.

IT MAKES IT SPOOKIER. I don't see a problem with it. Sure it does hurt your eyes, but the whole point of doing it is because, you know, stuff happened and zombies hate lights so they punch them so they flicker. I have no idea.

Might not be the right thread, but is there any specific reason why the CS:GO sdk likes to do this with shadows?

Mirrors Edge style storm drain, I'm just adding stuff that will look nice with Biohazard's shadows.

That was quite a bit of effort, but now it has railings.

No, not that guy. I meant the fellow facepuncher who posted about his own shot at it in this thread not so long time ago. He told he was about to release his version soon for everyone, just to show of to that greedy guy etc.

That was me, and I decided it wouldn't be worth it when Biohazard is going to release his stuff eventually. At least Biohazard does it the proper way, 100% from scratch - not some shitty hack that was the equivalent of banging rocks together.

Not very difficult, batch decompile, mass edit qc if needed, batch recompile for ob.

When I want a flickering light, I always make sure there's a steady light close to it, to avoid this.

I'd imagine it's because of the power within the building failing.

Sounds a bit too much like a deep alarm, I think. It could work well to portray a player's insanity.
