Same thing with NDAA for Obama. The Bill received a sweltering amount of support well above the 2/3 requirement to override a Presidential Veto. If Clinton vetoed it, he would have jeopardized any further political action on his part by essentially picking a fight with Republicans.
NDAA was completely overblown though. It's the militaries annual budget and the people who complained about the amendment in it are really uninformed and probably read about it on reddit. The PATRIOT ACT already grants them the powers people were complaining about.

I got even more overkill ways for santorum to die: Crash the ISS into Santorum's house. or just crash it into the moon so Gingrich gets his moonbase.
Gingrich sending him to the moon.
Mitt Romney choking him with flip flops.
Ron Paul encasing him in gold.
(and the oh so obvious) Santorum drowning in his own santorum.

I was obviously exaggerating, but it just amazes me that this one man would even have the power to attempt to do this assuming he was elected.

    I found this hilarious.

Once the U.S. Constitution is amended to prohibit same-gender marriages, "their marriage would be invalid," the former Pennsylvania senator said Dec. 30 in an NBC News interview.
He's really THAT sure of himself? It's unconstitutional to not allow gay marriage.

I really don't understand why we're viewed like this by pieces of shit like Santorum. They act as if by allowing us to marry we're gonna run into their houses and have sex in front of them and make them watch or something.

    He wouldn't.

He is making grand claims in a desperate effort to regain support.

The only reason he is still in the race at all is because he has significant financial backing. Really Santorum is an example of why money shouldn't be involved in politics at all.

My understanding is that he was normal levels of crazy for a Republican asshole until his wife had that miscarriage. The same one where they brought home the dead fetus for the family to see and touch. It was very odd.

Anyways, he has been getting progressively more insane ever since. I get the feeling that he isn't coping well and slowly losing his grip on reality.

Not that I feel sorry for the prick.

If any of the republicans get elected to office, we might have a full on proper impeachment of a president!

DOMA was tied back into getting the budget functional. It was Clinton giving the Republicans a cookie so they would shut up just long enough for what he needed to pass to pass. It also had too much support to veto, so by signing it, rather than being a child and refusing, he could gain some goodwill to burn at a later date.

That is pretty much how all of Clinton's presidency worked. I use DADT as an example because it is so clean cut. If you look at a list of shit passed, all sorts of concessions were made because Clinton had priorities and didn't try to fight on all fronts. He accepted losses that wouldn't cripple the country in order to advance things which would further us politically and economically. He was a master of playing the big picture and it is why he ultimately got the budget balanced without destroying any major services. It was a hell of a trick.

Had Bush not raped it all to hell, we'd be great right now.
I agree completely. It's sad to see all of that work blown to hell by the two Bush terms.
