I'm not saying iOS users NEED to worry about it. But there is literally no harm in including a feature like that. If you don't use it, that's great! But hey, if you do want it....here you go.
Why include something no one will use? You waste programming resources by up keeping something no one uses.

Should they take out the command line out of Windows 8 because less than 5% of the userbase uses it or even knows how to use it?

    Your argument is flawed.

Besides, where the FUCK is the logic in limiting the user what can they download and what they can't?
If the user wants to download something, let the user download it!

I wouldn't necessarily say waste. A file downloader is a pretty standard feature of any web browser.

Not seeing where a file downloader in a browser is required for any of that. My Numbers, Keynote, and Pages documents sync automatically, WITHIN THE APPS.

Chrome Beta for Android can import your current session from Chrome and you can continue browsing while travelling, it's a seamless transition between a computer and a phone. That's why I like Android, the fact the OS is designed to act as a portable desktop operating system, not a phone interface.

Because no one in their user base WANTS to do it.
This is the number one thing that FP forgets about most of the people who buy apple products.

I want to be able to wake up in the morning knowing that the new app I am installing will work and that it was been made with my device in mind. I want to know that I can install the latest OS on the day its released without tinkering on my computer. Frankly I could care less if my iPad can't open obscure file type X because that's not what its for.

My desktop is for tinkering and fun, my laptop is for heavy school work and work work, my phone is for calls and on-the-go things, and my tablet is for everything else.

Every one of those devices has a use in my life, some people need more, some need less. In the end it is down to personal choice and what your needs are! The conversation needs to stop being about brand names and needs to evolve into what you as the consumer need out of a product but at the same time respecting that it may not line up with someone else's needs.

Okay, but why do they NEED to stay seperate? Is there some holy law that I'm breaking? Why should you limit features just because the majority won't use them? What about the minority that does?

My phone happens to be a really slow, shitty smartphone running Android 4.0.3, so I treat it as such, only using light apps and browsing the web a bit.

Now, if I had a Galaxy Note, I'd be ordering a small Bluetooth keyboard right now so I could type text on it, I could work on my Google Docs crap on the move.

Let's talk about silly things we did with computers when we were young.

I was using windows 98 once, had got the "you have performed an illegal operation" dialog.

Didn't touch the computer for a couple days, thinking I broke the law.

So I was at Starfest this weekend and bought both a switchblade and an airsoft pistol.

I found out that both are illegal in public, and actually I committed a class 6 felony today by bringing the switchblade onto a public campus.

But fuck it! People have been getting robbed recently so I'll go to extreme measures to defend myself.

Speaking of obfuscated, the 20th International Obfuscated C Code Contest winners were just announced.

(yes, I'm a bit late on that segue)

First off, yes, that is valid C code.

Compile that, you get a program that takes ASCII Art and downsamples it. It also supports the somewhat-obscure PGM and PPM formats.

Naturally, with the source itself being ASCII art, you'd be tempted to try downsampling its source. You get... another valid C program. Compile *that*, and you get a program that upsamples ASCII art.

Downsample the source *once* *again*, you still get a valid program. In fact you can downsample that code *four* *times* and still get valid, compilable C code (with more than a few warnings, granted). There's also apparently a brainfuck program embedded in it, somehow.
