I'm trying to find an old Thinkpad or something on craigslist that I can buy and put Linux on. I'd love to be able to bring that thing to C++ with me and do my work on there.
I'm after a cheapy P3 laptop to run linux on too, a thinkpad would be the icing on the cake.

I'm hoping that my parents will just end up buying my mom a new one. She's starting to complain it's getting old. I'll just through Debian or Xubuntu on it.

Why specifically a ThinkPad? Why not a business class laptop from the likes of HP etc?

They need to. Even if the card is better, we are in the middle of the rescission.
And considering the non stock cards are REALLY expensive, I would expect it to drop, to maybe £400.

    who needs to?

it's more than likely that AMD lowered the prices because it them who needed to, no Nvidia, they were charging too much for a high-end card that was evenly matched with a mid-range card which isn't really a good thing

    It.
    Doesn't.
    Matter.

Money isn't infinite. People buying computers have a limited budget.
Nvidia will need to drop as well, otherwise, their sales will drop a fair amount.
A non reference AMD card is 380.
A non reference Nvidia card is about 480.

    Edited:

And speaking from benchmarks, the difference isn't worth £100.

Thinkcenters are fucking horrible. It seems like the power buttons always break on the older P4 models so the only way to re-boot them is to un-plug the power supply and plug it back in and then wait 5 seconds for it to boot by itself.

I did back up but I can't even access anything.

By wiped I mean it's literally deleted. I no longer have an Apple ID or iTunes account.

I did email support but I'm not expecting much

I did. I wasn't even trying to access iTunes when I found out that my account was dead.

It claims my account didn't exist. I was able to make a new one under the exact same ID but cancelled before completing it since I didn't want to fuck something up in case they can recover it.
