Well this bloody Seagate drive is not giving up many secrets, just one:
    Code:
    LED:000000CC FAddr:0024A051
Prints out to the serial port when the drive spins up.

So I know it is the BSY bug, so the data should still be fine. Just the Arduino's serial chip isn't playing nice with it and I can't enter the drive's diagnostic system. I've ordered a Nokia CA-42 cable because people have reported success with it.

    Damn you seagate!

they make 3 other tools, one is the exact same thing as the dremel rotary except it's on a base, one is an overpriced oscillating sander/cutter, and one is a shitty overpriced circular saw that is incapable of cutting anything thicker than about 3/4 of an inch

Ugh. That was fun. I found a 1GB DDR2 800 DIMM in my closet today, and I've been needing a little more RAM lately, so it's the right speed and 1GB gives my 5GB total (I keep maxing 4 dammit, I'll be upgrading soon anyway) so I've been meaning to clean my PC lately anyway, so good timing. So I clean my PC and stick in the DIMM. Doesn't work, but oddly no beep codes, so I take it out. No big deal, I'll live. So I connect everything back up and boot. Get into Windows, steam starts up. I start talking to them and woop bluescreen and notice that my fucking BIOS has reset (Note, it wasn't when I started up before the bluescreen). So because I'm a lazy shit and haven't updated my BIOS, there's a problem with my BIOS and Keyboard, Logitech G110, if I don't have USB speed set to Fullspeed in BIOS it will just hang on the POST screen and the fucking default is Hi-Speed. So I unplug my keyboard, plug in another keyboard and load my settings from some OC saver thingy, set USB back to fullspeed and everything boots finally.
    Fucking annoying.

Yesterday, I tried to assemble my PC with my new computer boards, I decided to test my build before I installed it in.

my Mainboard didn't recognize my RAM FUCK!
I always have the 1 short 2 long beep error code(no RAM installed).

I called my asus support, and they tried to solve the problem alongside with me.

they assured me, that all the components are 100% compatible with each other. We did everything that was possible, like CMOS reset only 1/2 Ram sticks in several different slots, reseat CPU...

Now I have to RMA the Mainboard, the RAM, and the CPU (we weren't able to tell, wich component is faulty)

That feeling of pure rage, when you build a PC and it doesen't work.

    FUCK :(

I went through a stage of caring what temperature my components were running at, and how loud my computer is. Now I don't give a damn.

I don't understand why you guys spend $50 on fans just to make things a tiny bit quieter (who really notices the noise while they're doing things anyway?), and make things run 1-2 degrees cooler.

Tiny bit quieter? These fans will literally halve my noise. One of my main issues right now is constant noise during voice chat which I do a LOT. I do also use my PC without my head phones, a lot. The constant whine is insufferable, not to mention I'd like to sleep when I move my PC into my room next week. Don't just judge everyone's PC by your own personal averages. Not to mention, right now it keeps my parents up when I'm up late at my PC. I prefer not to be a fucking dick to my family. Think before you post, not everyone is in the same operating conditions, not everyone has the same limits for noise and not everyone will use their PC the same as you.

The 4 HDDs in my PC are the loudest part, the fans are quiet because the Asus P8P67-LE is capable of controlling all my fans and I have a temp/rpm curve set up to keep them low unless the temperature gets very high. It's quiet enough that I can keep it in the same room I do audio work in.
It will be much different if you have you computer at ear level, but why would you do that. Location has a big affect on the sound output.

I should get some of those HDD Isolate/cooler docks, it would be near silent.

If I move to these fans I'm gonna be using a fan controller, my GPU should be the loudest part of my PC then. It's normally silent up to 80% though, past 90% it becomes a goddamn jet engine. Good thing is, it never hits that. Best I've ever seen it hit under heavy load would be 65% and it's idling right now at about 11%. So actually now that I think about it, my CPU heatsink will probably be the loudest part. I've never once heard my hard drives.
