My dad is planning to get a new computer, and asked me to buy the parts and put it together for him.

The wishlist I made here is within his budget and we're both pretty happy with it, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't making any mistakes.

    http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=23224067

It doesn't need to be very powerful, but it will be used for a small amount of video rendering, and he wants it to stay useful for a decently long time.

Thanks to anyone who wants to help.

    EDIT:

George Harrison no good with computer

Get an i3 2100 (or 2120 for more graphical powerz)/ h61 and no GPU instead, or an FM1 APU.

Why get the i3 if it seems to be both slower and only a dual-core compared to the AMD?

Probably a stupid question, but it doesn't make sense to me.

How is it slower? Where are you getting this info from? It sounds like you're just making it up.

I'm talking about the AMD being 3.6 GHz and the i3 being 3.1 GHz

It's about the architecture, not how high a core is clocked

i3-2100 and i3-2120 both have Intel HD Graphics 2000

The i3-2105 has Intel HD Graphics 3000

Oh, alright. I had heard that intel processors were better for the price, but I never really understood why.

    Edited:

Ok, so I've gotten rid of the AMD and replaced it with the i3 2105, and also took out the GPU.

I also replaced the motherboard with this:

    How does that look?

    edit:

Wait, that doesn't have an hdmi port, does it?

    Any recommendations for a motherboard?

they added a SATA 3 controller to the board, h61 still doesn't have SATA 3.

That doesn't mean that the H61 chipset has SATA3.

But a board that IS h61 and has sata 3...

It doesn't matter if it's on the chipset or not for crying out loud. You guys are so anal.

And where in this thread did he say that he was getting a sata 3 ssd, no where. Quit derailing.

h61 is a chipset, the chipset does not have SATA 3 on it. It's unusual for a motherboard with the h61 chipset to have SATA 3 because it's not included in the chipset, h61 (the chipset, not an h61 motherboard (we were never saying this)) does not have SATA 3

Your post implied that all H61 boards had SATA III.
Also, the chipset integrated slots tend to be a lot better.

I'm building my dad a computer for his workplace and chose the i3 2100, it's fine for what he needs.
