Hello, I am new at this stuff and i wanted to build a new PC. So i looked through newegg and put together a build i think might work but i dont know this stuff very well. So facepunch could you please look at this build and tell me what i can save or need to get.

What i want is to play games at High settings and is generally pretty fast at doing whatever. The budget is around $500 but ill go a little over.

thanks for the info, i have no clue about whats compatible or not. That motherboard only has 3 stars and some reviews say it dies so could you look up another one?

The ASUS P8H67 is probably worth the extra $10. ASUS motherboards are very good quality, plus the P8 series have a couple heatsinks which will likely provide better mobo temps over the intel one.

Both have only one PCIE2 slot so the question is, does OP plan to SLI/Crossfire in the future?

Probably not. Also i saw a thread about the new ivy bridge motherboard coming out in april so should i wait until that comes out? I dont need this build right away.

As far as I know Ivy Bridges will be backwards compatible, meaning an Ivy Bridge CPU will fit an LGA1155 or "Sandy Bridge" Motherboard. Also, from what I hear there's not gonna be a significant performance difference between Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge CPUs, Ivy Bridge is mostly meant as a smaller replacement for the current intel CPUs.

if you can add enough to your current budget by then, then yeah. Besides, saving up more money for a build is always better

I should wait for Ivybridge. The new chipset will be built on a new process as well, offering even lower power usage, and new features such as more SATA III ports, Native USB3.0, and potentially an Additional DMI link from the CPU to the PCH. The link is just a rumor though, most likely until haswell.

Yeah ill probably wait until ivybridge comes out and see if people like it and stuff.
