The new Valve Game System
A console shaped aesthetically like a valve can be attached at the rear of the head and inject pure "Steam" into ones head, at low low prices.

Holy shit what happened to Gabe, he looks like whatever age defying potion/device he used stopped working and old age finally caught up with him.
Anyway I'm still waiting for Valve to make their own operating system.![]()
Instant reminder.
Gabe would be the best president ever.
I can see valve's console's name being rain because of the whole steam->cloud->rain thing being a nice tactic for a name.
Valve -> Leak
Valve -> Drip
Valve -> Steam -> Condensation
Valve -> Steam -> Steamed/Steaming
Valve -> Steam -> Steamer?
I hope this is one of those not-shaving-til-ep3-is-done type of deals.
Valve is the best.
I was thinking it's this

As long as they keep their software "unlocked" and allowed to be used on any hardware configuration (ahem Apple), I don't see why not.
Fine. We'll make our own hardware. With blackjack, and hookers. Well forget the blackjack.
Don't give a shit.
We want games, not hardware.
I want music, but without the speakers
that can be accomplished
30 years more awesome, too.
As can

God damnit I'm late :(
He looks totally baked there.
Yeah well I'm gonna go build my own hardware! With blackjack, and hookers!
Gabe looks badass with that beard.
Man, everybody's talking about the beard, but I find his proposal crazy awesome. He's been talking about wearable computers. About biofeedback. About lack of hardware innovation. Valve has some experience with L4D's dynamic AI manager.
Imagine a game that can change completely depending on what the user feels. The first prototypes might just be like a media player's music visualization; matching colors and music according to the player's heartbeats. More advanced games could dynamically alter levels to build the ideal experience between checkpoints.
Incorporating dynamic elements such as increasing/decreasing the amount of health kits dropped depending on player health is what really sells games as a personal experience. If they could come up with an AI to make good use of the biofeedback, my god, be optimistic and imagine the possibilities for once.
Granted, it would take forever until Valve would come out with a marketable version, but I wouldn't doubt its impact.
Why do people think he is talking about consoles?
Am I the only one who thinks that Valve might be expanding maybe a bit too much?
Different thread; completely irrelevant.
I actually had the idea of a standardized computer running steam for gaming purposes (to offset the DAWWW COMPUTERS ARE SO HARD TO CONFIGURE AND TROUBLESHOOT) bullshit about 2 years ago. It would also be able to run games for the next ~2 years on medium with no fuss.
Good thing it's becoming reality
way to kill my dreams gabe.
Mac constitutes 5% of steam game purchases, why bother.
Just build a linux based Steam OS and be done with it.
Gabe is turning into a dwarf.
They aren't gonna make a console or OS.
In fact, screw the hardware!
Well I do like my games.
"They can afford it."
Oh you.
He was born in 1962 so hes starting to get there.
