I played a game with 7 techs on my team. Turrets everywhere.

except half of them were in useless places when someone pointed out that placing them on an inventory station currently makes them invincible.

Fair enough, not as many weapons are hitscan as I thought.
Is it wrong of me to voice my opinion on what I believe could be made better? I'm all for this game but in my eyes it's catering to the casual audience a bit too much. Sorry for being an elitist motherfucker (I'm shit at T2 anyway) but when this is a sequel to a franchise with a lot of established conventions, should I really not be annoyed that they have been bent/broken? I mean sure, it's free and I'm glad about that, but it just doesn't feel like Tribes to me (putting the T2 soundtrack on when playing does help though). The previous games in the series had a lot of emphasis on teamwork on top of individual skill but I see none of that now. Yes, you'll get your odd coordinated effort or two but everything the previous games had, save jetpacks, skiing and spinfusors, seems lost.

To be honest I'm just chatting shit cos I'm currently mashed but anyone else who played excessive amounts of the older games will (maybe) see where I'm coming from
Larger maps like Tribes 2's would help a lot. They kind of forced slower, more strategic gameplay instead of pathfinder rushes like you see in Ascend. When getting across the map takes seconds instead of minutes,yo really don't want to die after you get to the enemy base. The tiny maps make you less likely to use teamwork, and more likely to just fly straight at the flag, and if it doesn't work, come back 15 seconds later and do it again. Tribes 2 still had plenty of GOTTAGOFAST, but taking the time to coordinate an attack was more useful.

That's what Tribes Ascend currently lacks. It has little teamwork or tactical coordination. 85% of the current tactics I commonly see are either: A) Pick Pathfinder and just ignore everything else and flag rush. B) Pick Juggernaut and park your ass on a hill and just continuously MIRV spam the enemy base.

And because the game requires so little teamwork, such tactics are usually quite successful.

I wouldn't call it small... especially since it's still in closed beta, but it's a comfortable size.

One problem which several tribes players pointed out, was that Tribes 2 never really had a large playerbase, and never really succeeded in the way earlier games did. Sure plenty of people played it, and it was loads of fun, but they are trying to make the game more accessible to new players which they are succeeding in.

That's what I did, it's annoying though because paypal takes something like 5-10 days to transfer anything, even though they withdraw from your account within a day :\

Good game for me, I usually have ~12k+ points.

I can't hook it up to my savings account, I have a joint one with my dad and I'd need his info and stuff.

I don't have a prepaid card at the moment, but I'm wondering if they accept those, and if so, which cards.

Raider is a ton more durable and has better weapons, but you can't go invisible and just walk in and is a bit slower which is only really noticeable outdoors.

    In the FAQ above

Will character progression and unlocks be maintained during Closed Beta Testing

Yes. Progression of character and classes and unlocks will be maintained throughout Closed Beta and Open Beta and carry forward to Release. You should expect balance changes and adjustments to weapons and classes but your overall progression will be maintained.
