Before actually dragging on the ground? I've tried 12t and only had very minor sag, so I'd imagine a lot. Unsprung evener beams aren't supposed to allow vertical oscillation.

Long time without posting any of my contraptions. So here I'm fixing that.
KTO Ryś "Kobuz" - with a remotly controled 20mm HMG.
Still need to adjust ACF engine and gearbox to work properly (as of right now it's 33 km/h fast, and it can't climb nearly at any elevation angle)
Looks good so far, i'm more of an WWII tank builder though but i like the design. Hope you'll get it finished ;)
Hey what map did you use in the end of the video, when your convoy had a tank on it?
gm_mobenix_v3_final.bsp <- writen in comments.
Mobenix is crap. I want to know what the first map is. It looks wonderful!
Looks like the giant desert map from empires mod. I loved that, especially combat around the dam.
it's the map i converted from empires to gmod. gm_emp_mvalley.
A new plane I started approximately 3 hours ago. The chassis is ready, but I need to figure out how to balance it and where to add the thrusters. This is also going to be thruster-only.
Cockpit view, thanks for FuDy in the first page of this thread, got some inspiration from that one. ;) (Don't ask why the C-4 is there.)

why the FUCK does it do this?
the wheels all spin correctly but the wheels flop like that for some reason, all of them, I thought it was the weights at first, but I fixed the weights... then it decided to still fuck with me... the fuck is going on?
Anyone have good tips for parented vehicles by the way? It seems that vehicles using many props cause quite a bit of lag, yet parenting them seems to completely disable any possibility for wheels, since parented wheels bounce like mad when the hit the ground even slightly.
How do you people do it?
Are you pointing north?

Check out Karbine's parenting tutorial in the OP. You basically take the gate you've got your props parented to, then parent it / weld it to your chassis. Always works for me.
wat.
you don't parent the wheels or the chassis. just the aesthetic props.
What you do is, you build your contraption, put a wire gate on the MAIN BASE/CHASSIS, then parent all the stuff that is decorative, to the wire gate. Parent makes everything ghost and completely ignoring the world, so if you would parent the wheels, it would just sink, and not do shit. So when you make the body for something, parent the BODY to the CHASSIS. Sorry if my explanation was a bit unclear, If you want I could just show you ingame sometime.

Karbines Multi-Parent Tutorial
Oh yeah, thanks a lot. :)
(turn your prop 90 degrees) Use X Minimum/Maximum (-180/180) and Z+Y axis Minimum/Maximum (-0.1/0.1)
try adv ballsocketing the wheels on each axle together too. Like, so that they spin freely of each other, but if one twists one way the other will keep it in place.
Also, hopping is fixed using a tool called makespherical, or very light wheels or an RPM limiter (but that kills your speed)

Brought to you by my plane chip.
I am offensive and I find that very Iranian
Youtube memes? In my FP?
Really, youtube does have some seriously retarded memes. Every third comment is "dear santa", "I'm X and I find that Y", or "X people Y". Like, the site's been up for half a decade, and that's all they came up with? Shit, even I get sick of it. Between that and those "youtube poops" and the "hurr fuck america fuck israel 9/11 is an inside job evil jews vote for ron paul yay china" shit, it makes me wonder: can people really be that dumb?
Also, nice cockpit up there.
I would have agreed with you, but then I took an arr- no.
Anyone knows why this keeps happening? The problem can be reduced a bit by increasing the weight of the wheels, but they will still go half underground after hard bouncing against the ground. The parented props are nowhere near the wheels either.
some prop wheels sink at high rpms because of the source engine being crap. Use makespherical, limit their rpms, or use the phx racewheels and parent a wheel over them.
Thanks, makespherical worked but not the problem is the wheels diverting from their heading direction and making U-turns by themselves due to the spherical shape. The PHX racing wheels seem to have the same problem even without makespherical. Oh well, lets see what I can do.
The black PHX wheels that are in many sizes don't sink through the ground at high RPM's. You sure you're using those?
I tested the black racing wheels and they were fine, but the width between the front tires on my plane is bigger than that of the back wheels, which makes the plane unable to drive straight on ground with even mid-range velocities. This problem didn't exist with the standard wheels, but they again sunk through the ground, so I'm in a kind of a loss-loss situation here. ^^
Most of these older PHX wheels sink into ground because their physbox is so high-poly that the source engine can't keep up calculationg the collisions and ignores them.
Hey man. How do you make those legs? I'v ben trying for weeks to make my own but with no vitrory.
This is my first time posting in a wip thread but all of these are wip.

I hate to say this, but there are kind of.. horrible.
Using some detail props and forming your shapes to be less blocky will make them look better.
Bunch of planes. Challenging myself to build things I suck at building. They all use E2, not fin, because using E2 and making realistic flight might be harder but means they can be used on servers without fin.
Bathtub cockpit cuz i'm lazy.
The stick on the left moves according to control inputs, the bar on a stick thing is linked to throttle and pulls out.
Some shitty transport that was inspired by an equally-shitty looking STOL prototype.
and just for lulz, my noobplane, complete with repetitive thruster sound.

just as warning, sestze's on the warpath and something is conflicting with AD2 on GGG. he's going to remove it. something is causing AD2 to cause server instability.
this problem is only so exacerbated on GGG, too.
(he thinks AD1 is perfect and works fine)
Oh lordy. And so begins the fall of the last proper build server.
The servers are unstable? Could have fooled me. I hope it's not gone already, as I need to download some dupes.
Why? AD1 was used over 2? 3 years? More? Has GGG servers died during these years? No. Furthermore you can spawn with AD2 thing saved in AD1.
thanks for the heads up. I'm disappointed. AD1 is a buggy piece of shit that never should have been created in the first place. The fact that it took us a half a decade to get a proper duper has probably cost gmod half the contraptions people it had.
also ggg has always been unstable as far as I can remember. Then again all gmod servers are. As amplar's pointed out in other threads, and as I fondly remember, there was a time when 100+ welded prop contraptions actually were feasible. The engine's getting worse and worse.
If we had the 2006 engine and 2011 building methods we could have full-server wars and probably 1000+ prop servers.
god fucking dammit.
why.
Your avatar is currently making the same expressions as I am right now.
I asked TB if he knew anything about these bugs, didn't talk to him very long though. While if I were Sestze I'd be equally frustrated, I think he'll really be shooting himself in the foot with this one in terms of community. On another related note, Waxx is running a server now. My current damage control plan is to differ all my complex building (Swashplates, etc) to Waxx's server and use GGG for combat and mechanically simple building like tanks and simple planes.
The answer to 99% of questions regarding addons, server administration, and engine features in gmod: Don't fuck with it.
Maybe you don't quite understand how things work around here just yet.
If your employer started giving you great health benefits on top of your current wages, you'd be pretty happy. if, after a few months, he randomly took it away because it was causing instability, you'd be pretty pissed.
Take that into GMod; People have learned to use AD2, and have grown accustomed to it. Hell, I know that I can't play on servers without it anymore, because my building habits have evolved over it. it's part of the building infrastructure, and removing it will prevent many people from being able to build at the same caliber they did beforehand.
It'd be like suddenly removing SmartSnap. There was a time when build servers didn't have SmartSnap at all, and nobody complained about it since it didn't exist, but if we took it away randomly like that, I promise you there wouldn't be all too many people who'd want to build anymore. This wasn't the best example, since PA has nearly replaced the need for SmartSnap, but you get the idea. The community has grown accustomed to AD2, and have grown around it and integrated it into their building practices. To take it away is taking away the building technique progression that evolved from it.
