So which do you guys think is better, NV or F3? I was gonna buy one but I'm not sure which.
IMO Fallout 3 has a better atmosphere.

Also, the story of Fallout 3 was great in my opinion. It starts after you're fucking BORN and it goes on from there.

They kind of derped on the story of the main quest in New Vegas by just pulling off the old "He gets amnesia! Now we don't have to tell explain anything that happened BEFORE he got amnesia!"

But then again, that's just an opinion of someone who only played the first 2 hours of New Vegas because I had never played FO1 or 2 and was used to the dark, grim style of Fallout 3 and expected just that.

So i decided to try a playthrough with luck 10 on the first game that everyone seemed to be talking about.

30 minutes in the game and i have hit less than half of my shots, had no critical's, Have had around 20 critical misses, Haven't found anything better than a 10 mm smg, and all in all have been blown apart 10 or so times.

I just think the world hates me.
You did that on your first time playing? Did you tag guns and boost it up asap?

FO3 wasn't dark and grim, it had moments that were, but particularly the second half of the main quest where either you kill everyone except the Enclave, or totally destroy them with the help of the Brotherhood of Steel and give everyone in the wasteland clean water.

Don't go if you don't have a fuck ton of stimpacks and an anti-materiel.

I do need more stimpacks, though.

Is there a good place to buy them and/or a doctor's outpost I can pillage?

    Also I need more caps.

    Edited:

    I have the Gobi too.

Still mostly using my service rifle, though. God I love that gun.

A couple of weeks ago I had tried to play Fallout 3 without sequence breaking at all.
I had never done that before. Even on my first playthrough, completely blind, I had put a bunch of points into speech and did things with good karma in mind and followed directions poorly. Though that last one really wasn't my fault, the whole map thing was useless and failed to mention how restricted access could be.
It was truly amazing. You could just tell Silver to give you hundreds of caps. I found out that you merely had to use two subway stations to get to GNR. You know, on my first run, I kept on trying to access the Dumont circle because it looked close to GNR, and tried getting in like eight different ways only to find that a magic bulldozer had placed impassible walls of rubble at all access points.
Anyway, after almost effortlessly getting to GNR, I found that a Nuclear Bomb Launcher was just sitting in this dead guy's inventory! I mean, in all my previous games, I stocked up on so much ammo trying to get rid of this nasty fucker but all it took was just robbing a corpse and shooting it twice!
Then I did, for the first time, the dish quest. I can't believe that no matter how many times I've gone to DC that I missed the Dumont Circle, and the car tunnel. I tell you, the whole thing was just beautiful.

It's really weird what they did with the game design. In all the other fallouts, having a narrow range of skills meant a good chunk of the game's content is unavailable. In 3, you put points in a few skills and suddenly the most beautiful and fun parts of the game could remain unknown to you forever.

Fallout 3 didn't feel dark and grim and it felt like they just reused all elements from Fallout 1 and some from 2 because they couldn't think of anything themselves. I would've honestly thought Fallout 3 was better if they had some more original enemies (I think the Mirelurks are the best creatures in F3) instead they wanted to go the easy route and shove all the shit that doesn't make any sense for being over there into it.

As for the story, the main quest basically rips-off elements from 1 and 2. The story where you go back to Vault 101 and then it repeats the scene from the end of one didn't even carry the same impact as the original and felt cheap.

Fallout 3 would've just been a better game if they tried to avoid all references as much as they could to the first two and tried getting more creative with their own area.

Umm you don't have amnesia in New Vegas, you just have no background because that's how RPG's work, the more background you have the less you can actually role play, Fallout 3 had so much of the pc's background set in stone you couldn't really role play as anyone except some 19 year old kid from a vault looking for his dad.

    Playing the original FO:

First 3 blocks out of the vault, crashed alien ship. Find a blaster and old painting.

Next 2 blocks, Super mutants. Gets ripped apart by minigun

The more I look into Lonesome Road, the more I'm excited/worried. It looks fun, but genuinely difficult.

And not having companions means I can't take all the loot I'll want to take.

Also how can I increase my max health? Right now it's like 300-ish.

Survival raises max health. Some SPECIAL stats might do it as well. Also Lonesome Road is pretty fucking hard due to the Deathclaws. Oh god, Deathclaws.

Not worried about those. I have over two thousand armor piercing rounds for my Gobi and That Machine, plus a lot of Stealth Boys. And plasma mines.

I need like eight more levels before I'll be at a good place to start, I'm only level 18 now. Guess I've got time to pump survival.

So, my first new Vegas playthrough. I had everyone except Veronica and Raul.

This one i was walking to Vegas with Boone, wondering about the fact of the others. My brother walks in, notices i have Boone and asks if i have Lily yet. I say how i went past black mountain but didn't want to go in until a higher level. I then started about how i didn't know where Veronica was but because she is BoS she may be in Hidden Valley. Just while talking about her guess who i run into on the way to Vegas?

I was kind of annoyed as i wanted to keep Boone as i didn't have the penthouse yet. I said i was going to go fetch him after getting the penthouse. Boy was i wrong. I love Veronica, not only do we decimate anyone we meet, but she's also pretty funny, and has a better personality than Boone. Considering he had the personality of a slightly dampened washcloth.

Is the Vault 34 Security Armour worth it? As far as I can tell, it's 10lb lighter than Combat Armour but has a higher DT (by 1 point). It's also classed as Light Armour while CA is Medium Armour (not sure what difference that makes). It has 1/4 the health of Combat Armour though, and no way to effectively repair it, afaik.
