never ran into autobalancing like that myself I have to say

then again I live in australia and don't play on a huge range of servers, typically the autobalancing is fine here

    Also laggy as tits.
hence why the title says "borked recording test"

And I thought it was just sort of common sense to not have autobalance like that. Granted, I only really play on two servers, but still, you'd think that a server owner would have enough common sense to realize that balancing based off of a one player difference (As well as swapping the best person on the team) doesn't work.

Then again, this is Battlefield 3, where most server owners are egotistical twatmonkeys that can't actually run a server for shit.

It feels like a lot of these problems with one team dominating another would be a bit lessened if more servers had team scramble. Sure, you could dominate for one round, but at least there's a little less chance of it happening game after game.

I don't really understand why most servers don't already have it.

If you look at the clan tags, there's a lot of people who make it a habit to bring in friends to play with.
Scrambling teams would kind of get in the way of that.

Although I admit, I do enjoy the scrambly servers and wish there were more of them.

Autobalance is bullshit. I've played with 3 of my friends and we managed our team to roll the whole round from complete sucking - to the enemy's base. Then all 4 of us get [KILLED BY ADMIN] and spawn in enemy team.
So we did that again. 5 fucking times(!) in one round our squad was crushed by autobalance and thrown in to the opposite side.

P.S.: Hate that M26 DART glitch. Every server filled with g3a3-m26dart-douchbags.

Doesn't necessarily have to scramble person-by-person. It can scramble by squad, and then scramble by person for those not in one.

I typically only play with my friends, which means we are in team speak, which means we actually work together, which means we actually get shit done, which means if teams were scrambled, that would all be pointless.

The closest thing you can get to fair autobalance is the one that forces over the last team joiner, preventing people from joining the winning team.

I just don't like how that also applies to me when playing on 10k ticket metro.

I think at every new round, the teams should be scrambled according to rank, so theres an equal amount of good players on each team. Maybe something could be worked in to accommodate squads too.

Each squad gets assigned a score based on score per minute, KD, objectives captured n shit like that then balanced over when a shuffle vote is held so the number for each team is pretty equal.

Why are you all talking about autobalance in relation to skill? It shouldn't swap players based on skill, it should swap the person who joined most recently, then shuffle the teams at the end of each match, while keeping squads together, to prevent any team stacking. It stops people from joining and straight away swapping to the winning team too.

That's how it works down here in Australia and I've never had any issues with ever being autobalanced unfairly.

I only quit a landslide if it's clear that it's a total domination, final destination no turning back. I.E. me play
ng against a bunch of rank 50+ conoels in their top 10 and losing by 300-400+ tickets. If we are losing at all, but it's atleast not a total slaughter (i.e. 250 ticket difference or lower) then I stick around. Usually because there's a decent chance of a comback happening by the end of the game and because we don't suck SO MUCH that I literally can't play without getting slaughtered myself.

Rank absolutely does not equal skill in any way shape or form. Rank is 100% a symbol of time played
So true. I'm rank 40 and better than 75% of the level 20 conels i run into

People complain that the autobalance decides to balance the most valuable, and ALIVE players on the team. They don't choose someone in the middle of the scoreboard who is dead and waiting to respawn, they usually take someone who's at the top of the scoreboard and is alive and running around shooting people. That's a fucking horrible autobalance system
Well, yes and no. It's a good idea to take people doing better from the winning team, and place them in the losing team. As the losers have a chance to use someone who is actually half decent to fight back. Taking someone from the middle of the board, would just add another average player to a sub-par team.

Keeping all the "good" players out of one team is why autobalance exists, if all the good players are on one team the game is unfair to the losing team. Just moving the average players from one team leaves the good players stacked against the average.

    Though they should possibly use another metric for deciding which player to move. In order of who to touch the least;
    - Players alive squads and in vehicles
    - Players alive in vehicles
    - Players alive in squads
    - Players alive
    - Dead players in squads
    - Dead players

And then some metric of measuring performance that isn't "top of the board" (recent SPM or something?)

    Edited:

The autobalance should swap the shitty players first, not someone thats top of the fucking team.
    No.

Shit, you're a stream of stupid ideas aren't you.

A lot of UK servers use the "newest first" autobalance system. Which works quite well as you don't know how good the new player will be. But it rarely stops the curbstomping that can happen with stacked teams.

It's worrying how few people actually give out ammo. I've seen a lot more people dropping health recently though which is always good. I seem to throw ammo at thing air most times as Support just so there is ammo around

is it me or did they fuck flares up so bad that now they are a complete downgrade for helicopters when it comes to ECM jammer. I mean i already hated ECM jammers on helicopters before the patch, but now it feels like that it is literally the best countermeasure in the game because flares dont break lock anymore and the recharge rate is the same. Oh and is not being able to lock on to helicopters with a stinger when they are close to the ground a bug or a feature?

If a helicoper has Below Radar, it's a passive perk that prevents lockons when low altitude

Don't get too excited though, for heli's you practically NEED to be on the ground in order for it to work. Still useful to break lock in emergencies. As long as the lock isn't almost completed... I've noticed that when you break locks with below radar it takes a few seconds to kick in.

And seeing as stingers now pretty much one-hit kill helicopters (at the cost of a shorter range), it's a pretty iimportant tactic to take advantage of.
