I re-watched The Naked Gun for about the 50th time
9.5/10
For what it is meant to be and what it gives us, a silly comedy about cops, it is hilarious and I laugh every time I see it. One of the best parts of this film is that there is never a scene where there's no joke. You discover something new in a scene every time you watch it. Leslie Neilsen is very funny, and it is one of the best comedies ever IMO.

popcorn was more interesting than the movie as expected
i liked the popcorn but it ran out and i didnt even have to go to toilet as usual

I watched War Horse last night. Easily a 10/10
I had to hold the tears in at least twice because I was watching with my dad, but I couldn't contain the smile on my face during happy moments

Johnny English Reborn

I thought the Rolls Royce Phantom with the V16 was really cool,but it turned out to be the less likable coupe version. And it isn't one of my "most favourite movies of all time",but I still liked it.

I didn't like Johnny English Reborn that much, but I think that some of the scenes were pretty genius, mainly the parkour chase one

Drive (2011)

stylish as fuck and although being excessively violent it was done in an almost beautiful way, Ryan Gosling was great in it, loved the 80s feel the whole thing had to it as well. The music, the restaurants, etc fantastic. It's more style than substance, but it really is great
Kill Bill (2003)

watched this for the second time, it's good, I like that it's basically a homage to so many different styles and genres of film and blends them all pretty well but it almost feels amateur, you can tell it's a total experiment for Tarantino, it's like he's just messing about seeing what happens because he thinks it's cool. Which is probably what he did, and it makes the film original and unique but while it adds to the film sometimes it can take away some stuff.
Escape From New York (1981)
7, 7.5/10
Kurt Russell's good in it, Snake Plissken is an awesome character and it's a cool film, plagued with the low budget problems so many 80s action films faced. But I wouldn't really put it in with what most people think of in an 80's action movie, this film is actually quite subtle throughout.
Cabin in The Woods (2012)
9/10
Went to see this in the cinema today, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I went in knowing pretty much nothing of it, I thought it would be something pretty similar to Evil Dead. Goddamn I was wrong! (although I'm pretty sure there's several Evil Dead references.)
But yeah this was fantastic, seriously original and a bit crazy. Loved it a lot.
The Big Lebowski (1998)
8/10, seen this before, pretty hilarious, and a classic Coen brothers ridiculous story with everything getting out of hand and stuff. Always a good watch.

I liked this movie a lot. The characters all had depth to them, and you felt bad for them when appropriate.

Star Trek (2009) - 7
Quite liked it. Not having seen the Star Trek series some things went by me, which I was OK with. The action was pretty good and special effects were quite stunning. As is with movies like these, there were some moments that made me roll my eyes but beside that quite an enjoyable movie.

I enjoyed how the directors showed showed how an honest, hardworking man could become a horrible, selfish person in only a matter of a couple of weeks. I did feel like the film was a bit confusing to follow at times and I think some of the characters needed more back-story.

Overall I enjoyed it. It was slow to take off, and the plot twists were very easy to predict, but it wasn't bad.

Nice to see someone who doesn't praise Raiders to hell and back. I love the trilogy, but to be honest, Raiders is my least favorite. Mostly because Temple of Doom was the first one that I watched. Last Crusade is and always will be my favorite.

Last Crusade is my overall favorite, but in no way is Raiders the least favorite. If anything Temple of Doom is in last, and Crystal Skulls is just forgotten completely.

i find it hard to particularly enjoy movies where none of the characters are likable or relatable in any way, and actually somehow get worse with the progression of time, leaving me to wonder at the end if they were supposed to be so or not
i would have been completely cool with it if there were some comeuppance for his psychopathic choices. but there wasn't. ellen page takes a bullet to the head, but she'd already established herself as even crazier with the rape scene so i was glad to have her gone. his motives are even justified around that time too, when they haphazardly shove in the scene where kevin bacon sells liv tyler to the drug lord. frank doesn't get the girl back, but he expresses that it's a positive thing.

I would say the main guy is pretty relatable as an average person who is sick of seeing injustice and crime. Obviously not to the same extent but still.
Also, his face for most of the criminal beatdown montage is priceless.

the crimefighting began because he was having a delusional breakdown from his wife leaving him, which really gave me the impression that "rescuing her" was the motive from the start, even though it seemed to me like she just left on her own because frank was boring and/or socially dysfunctional. there was nothing "unjust" about liv tyler leaving him, it was kind of a dick thing to do but it was certainly not what i'd call worth getting up in arms over.

The Killing (1956): 9/10
Although it does kind of give of the stereotypical 50's movie vibe, this movie was great, especially in the photography and lighting department. Every scene was visually interesting, whether it be an otherwise boring scene in a chess club or a more exciting scene during the robbery. Kubrick's first feature film was great, just like his other movies.

saving grace is the part where the old retired geezers join in as the crew. at that point I just threw all logic and rational thought away and cheered when the battleship made a sick-ass drift and blasted the aliens to hell and back

A lot of lines are cheesy, Billy Zane isn't very good and the idea of a love story that happens over the course of three days is pretty implausible...
But for some reason I love this movie. The music, the visuals, the characters, the love story, everything. I don't even know why I like it so much, I just do.

Titanic 3D - 8.5/10 Even though its a remake i liked it.

It's not a remake, dude. It's the exact same movie, but in 3-D. Maybe some CGI touch ups, but that's about it.

Wrath of the Titans - 6/10
Most of the movie is historically inaccurate, but the special effects were pretty cool. Not a movie with a deep plot in the least, but it's still entertaining. Also it has Liam Neeson which is definitely a bonus

You shouldn't even watch the trailer because it reveals far too much
You can tell they tried to hint things and make sure you know it's not a generic horror but they can't give up very much, to be fair it's not an easy film to make a trailer for
I'd say learn as absolutely little about the film as you can before seeing it because it'll be much better that way. I saw it knowing like nothing and am very glad I did because I had no ideas or anything created from the trailer
