So, I get to the Creation Kit and change some hairstyles, and in the preview it is looking neat. Good.

Then I go into the game and find out that the touched NPCs have their facial colors set to default, with no war paint or anything. I have to say than pink-faced orcs are disturbing.

So, any idea of what I'm doing wrong?

Not that specific design, but I was just looking at one that is quite similar. It's called Hedge Knight Armor

i think they're ported from the same game so they'll probably match the armor

I doubt you'd want to wear fur if you're already wearing a full suit of armor.

I think he meant wear fur overtop. Armor already has a cloth/fur gambeson underneath.

Would be cool if you could wear a fur cloak or something instead of a helmet, though.. (for any armor)

That'd be nice, I liked morrowinds system where enchantments just recharged themselves over time. So damn tedious to have to keep filling up your sword like it's a car that runs on souls.

One great thing about Skyrim, forgetting the actual game, is that it has brought an RPG drenched in lore to the general masses and spawned so much creativity.

Only problem is that it doesn't explain said lore and spawns a lot of "mainstream" idiots. I watched a let's play of this game, it hurt me physically.

Well it attempts to through dialouge(spelling?) (which was discussed earlier in that article)

But "mainstream idiots" is a terrible term and the two words shouldn't be used like that. A lot of "mainstreamers" will bring very creative and high quality content into and about Skyrim thanks their "mainstream contacts" or whatever. All degree of Skyrim fans have an equal chance of doing something crappy with Skyrim, it's just this biased view of "mainstream" people that leads to a lot of bashing. I am an avid fan of the Elder Scrolls series, and have been since Morrowind. But I do not technically sit in the "mainstream" circle of people, yet I could not bring anything useful to Skyrim, nor would I appear to be outside the circle of mainstream because I do not have the play style, nor the patience to learn the lore (even although it fascinates me). A lot of these "mainstream" idiots are nerds in disguise.

It's not just the War of the Worlds styled grass, the ground in general is just too dark compared to the sky.

I don't think that's my custom settings... It looks like the sunscale is set a little too low. The sunscale sets the brightness / intensity of the light from the sun hitting objects like the ground and sides of buildings.

Then again, it looks like it's later in the evening / very early morning (Look at the sky colour between the clouds). I'm thinking it's early morning when the sun isn't visible in the sky, but the light from the sun is still illuminating the sky/clouds causing the sky to be bright, and the ground to be dark.

I've seen that happen before. Living in the country and getting up early for the bus can do that

    Edited:

Also, the grass that is red-ish looks rusty yellow in the first place.

It makes perfect sense to me. Metal gets cold more easily, so an extra layer of fur on top of the metal to keep it warm could indirectly add to the comfort of the suit.

A good suit of armor would have an incredibly thick leather bodysuit layered underneath it, so you wouldn't get pinched so hard if your armor caught on your skin while you were fighting. You'd probably keep heat in pretty well with just that. Anything extra, and you risk overheating in battle, which would not only make the suit clammy and even more uncomfortable, but your sweat would turn cold fast and could give you hypothermia in a cold place like Skyrim.

    the more you know

I can't tell if you mean all real life skyrim videos, or if you mean just this girl's videos.

I don't think the jumping around and looking everywhere while the camera spins around her fits very well with the skyrim theme. But it was fine for the Link one because that's basically how the games are anyway. She just gets really into the music.
