It could possibly be Valve-made hardware since they said they will make their own if need be, and Nvidia is the publisher or co-developer or something.

Didn't Nvidia and ATI both have separate deals? Portal first slice, HL2DM and Lost Coast if I recall correctly?

Don't get your hopes up. I'm expecting nothing. Gabe also said that they're not announcing anything new at e3 already so I don't know why people keep expecting anything at e3 either.

But the new graphics card LIGHTS UP! It's just like the shoes I had as a kid! And it makes a beeping noise when you use it, for no reason!

Yeah, that was such a letdown. I guess it might be a good thing, since I doubt the audience there would really be super excited for it.

I'm guessing the whole crowbar thing was just a pathetic grab for attention, since they never brought it or zombies up in the presentation.

Nvidia's big presentation. They sent out crowbars to journalists as a promotion for it, but it turned out to be nothing important, just old crytek videos, some Chinese mmo, and a new graphics card.

I dreamt I was at a conference with gabe as a speaker and he had HL3 posters, but I wasn't allowed to see them. :(
I had a dream that HL3 came out, everyone went crazy, it was in the news, steam broke and the little graph that tells you how many people are online went through the roof. I got to play the game in my dream too, too bad my imagination sucks and it was just portal 2.5 with lambdas. It was the best dream ever though

Fucking bullshit article. I hate this kind of journalists who bring up such headlines to raise the hopes of fans, just to gain clicks. Nvidia teases Half Life 3.
It looks like they really did it. But they didn't as we've seen. The fans are again disappointed and will complain about Valve. There is one in the comments who already did that.

I nominate Valve for cockteasers of the century. Short skirts and lowcut shirts have nothing on how much they teased this game...
Seriously, the HL3 shirt thing wasn't even made by Valve, but he believes it, although people on the internet came up with this.

Why would the source engine even need a card as powerful as nvidia to sponsor it, unless VALVe plans on releasing a new sexy engine to replace their old one, a man can dream. Seriously though, Nvidia usually only advertises big time game engines like the frost byte and Cryengine. I have NEVER seen the source engine on their website.

My hopes are already up, and Valve been taunting us for the last six years. I highly doubt Valve would want Ep3, Half life 3, or whatever they are going to call it be Duke Nukem Forever.

    And then they'll either
    a) Announce some new stupid game they're working on (Another Day of Defeat, anyone?), or
    b) Not even bother to show up at E3, telling us that they have nothing to show.

I feel like they're gonna go to E3 to show off some new wearable computing stuff. But, who knows?
Nvidia with crowbars? A large-ish booth for Valve at E3? A Hl2:ep3 shirt in their new employee handbook? I'm not getting hopes up or anything, but it's awfully fishy.

When HL3 Is announced, about a week before the reliese date, I will re-play the entire series. (Except BS and OF)

    Edited:

    How 'bout you guys?
This is something I plan to do myself, although I'll be allowing myself more time (about a month or so) and also be including Blue Shift and OpFor. I'm looking forward to this series run more than I ought to be, actually, as I haven't played the original Half-Life (let alone its expansions) since receiving the game for my 13th birthday in '99. It'll almost be like playing through them for the first time!

I see your GI cover story and raise you the announcement ARG that played out during the first week of March. ;) (To be fair, however, although the game was announced the month prior, it wasn't unveiled [i.e. actually seen] until the aforementioned GI issue.)

I'd actually like an original IP from Valve. I mean I know they love adopting mods, but their creative team must sit on a lot of unused ideas they can't cram into other games.

TFC is a Valve-developed remake of the original Team Fortress, which itself is a Quake (the original) mod. Fun fact: Valve snapped up the Team Fortress team to make TFC -- this is how Robin "Hats!" Walker landed his job at the company.

    Edit: Clarity.

l4d although wasnt a mod, wasnt a valve game until sometime late 2007/early 2008
portal is a valve game but it could be slightly influenced by the narbacular drop team that most now still work for valve

What irks me is when people include Portal in the admittedly ever-growing list of Valve games that began development outside of the company. I shouldn't have to point this out to anybody, but two titles sharing a vague mechanic does not the same game make. (Just so we're clear, this post isn't aimed at you.)
