I just put a support underneath it and built the floor again. I don't give a fuck, water and mud is going everywhere anyway.

    Speaking of bedrooms...

    Fuck em.

I don't give my dwarves any ever. They sleep on the floor/in the hospital/in the barracks and I'm fine with that. Too tedious to make bedrooms for 200 dwarves even if I don't have to assign them.

You know you could just build a bunch of beds and make a dormitory, basically a place where they all sleep.

For a dorm, are cabinets and chests needed? Or am I just wasting my resources on 300 of each?

They make your dwarves happier having them. If they're happy enough, don't worry about it. Otherwise they're easy enough to craft stone Coffers and Cabinets to use up some of that cluttering stone.

I think they place items inside as well, so it helps clear up clutter.

But yes for me it's essentially a free happy thought as well as a use for all that fucking useless stone that's lying everywhere.

Oh, I never knew this. Supposing I have a massive dormitory with like 50 beds in it, can I also just throw 50 or so cabinets in there, or would they need to actually be next to the beds, like they're part of individual bedrooms?

I think it'll increase the value of the bedroom so they get thoughts from sleeping in a legendary bedroom and all that. If they're anywhere in the room, they count. It won't be as much as if they owned it, but it's still better than nothing.

Oh, it's just for increasing the value of the room? My non-noble dwarves already love their one-square bedrooms. I thought they liked cabinets because they enjoyed storing belongings in them or something.

If I want to increase the value of their "bedrooms" I'll just engrave the floor under their bed.

Here's what you do; go to advanced world gen and lower the max temperature and min temperature of the world by 30-40, then proceed to increase the number of genned Evil Regions (never done this personally, but I've passed it quite a few times while modifying a world gen.)

So I think i have a wood problem.

More specifically, I don't know what to do with wood. I've basically deforested the entire map and used it all on beds and bins, but aside from that I just don't know what else to do with it all. I don't want to waste it on more bins, I have plenty of beds, I don't need barrels or chests or anything. What should I do with it?

Use a wood burner to turn it into fuel.

Ok so I was looking through Dwarf Therapist and found a dwarf with incredibly high social skills so I nicknamed him 'Suspect', however when I went into the game there wasn't anybody with that nickname. I haven't updated to the newest version for some reason, but is there anyway to get Dwarf Therapist to show the ingame names instead of their 'real' ones?

I think my fortress is invincible thanks to a few dwarves in my military.

I just had my third siege, and this one was bigger than the other two combined. Tens of trolls and goblins. There was no way I'd win with my 10-man militia, but I did. A speardwarf who had racked up seven kills in the previous sieges took down 5 trolls single-handedly, while some fell to my traps. Another shining star rose among the militiamen: A newly drafted swordsdwarf, who slaughtered at least ten goblins, shrugging off blows and bolts left and right.

Granted, the rest of my militia god slaughtered, but these two beardies just fended off a force that was many times larger than theirs in number. Is this normal?

Ooh, I just bought a male and female tigerman from the elves. NOW TO BREED A RACE OF LOYAL TIGERMAN WARRIORS

    Edited:

Ok, there is a strange mystery going on in this fort. EVERY dwarf and EVERY animal seems to have several coatings of a dwarf named Lorbam Figureclashes' blood on them. I need to carve a slab for this dwarf and figure out how he could have died in such a way that his blood now permeates the entire fortress.

Hmm, inconclusive. He was killed by a giant olm during a siege, that's all I learned. He was an axedwarf without a nickname though, so I'm pretty sure he was a caravan guard.

I never thought I'd say this, but my fort could really use an invasion. The caged prisoners have nearly been expended in my special training program, and invaders haven't delivered more training assistants in over a year. Did they give up or something?

Might have to breach the underground caves to find some things for the military to kill...

Some sort of diseased pollution in one of my secondary burrows because I kinda dumped a bunch of dead bodies down into the storage tanks, cordoned off the entire area and have since used it for migrant disposal. It's funny to watch them occasionally kill each other too. This volcano's biome is a fucking asshole. It rains sludge that gives them fevers and vomiting so I can't use the surface for much, and it's fairly filled with dangerous fogs that turn things into savages or outright kills them. The fact that anything gets to my near-self sustaining fortress is beyond me, considering they have to climb an entire volcano to even find the entrance, making it past customs and sorting is another story all together. Lets just say that only those who can offer me something end up in the fortress. The rest are either drafted, stay in the shanty, or become test subjects to my many dangerous ideas.
