So I just got the first Stalker for my birthday, and one of the first things I do is explore the little camp that you start off on. To make a long story short I think I found one of the most redundant Stalkers ever.

Don't mind him, he's just watching paint dry.

It seems rumours about the future of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 are on high gear already :

    In russian

It's supposed to be an interview of "Mikhail", allegedly a guy from GSC answering fan questions.

    Another interview

    Edited:

Choice quotes from the above article, "Mikhail" is supposed to be from GSC :

    Ruben “DokBert” Of [firunts].
I greet, Mikhail! With the arrival! It is usually accepted to speak “with ship to the ball”, but in you the radically opposite situation: it does not here smell of ball! Fans with the impatience wait answers to many questions, connected with “the stalker”. And the main thing of them: “is living” project? Will wait for we all the promised continuation?

    Mikhail “[Vedmed]” of reasons.
Ruben, I greet you, also, in your face of all fans of stalker. Apropos ships - you rights, and ball will be for us all. On your question, “is living project? ”, I will say only one…
Yes, project is living! But apropos continuation, I think, you will obtain the answer, when you pose all your questions.
    Edited:

I don't want to jump to conclusions and whole thing feels really shaky but maybe someone who's more knowledgeable in these matters can tell if it's total bullshit or might have a grain of truth to it ?

After realizing how incomprehensible the babelfish version is and after booting up GT to use a Croatian Translation, the most important part of the news post states that Sergei won't sell the brand completely to anyone for any sum of money.
It's both a blessing and a curse. Curse in that he seems to be extremely bull-headed and angering people around him but on the other hand, it's a blessing that EA / Activision won't get their hands on it ever.

Smelling balls confirmed for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

You have to wash your balls regularly to not to attract mutants.

Depends on how one defines "project is alive". Everything about S2 appearing to have a grain of truth to it should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Even if it's not currently being actively worked on or have a clear schedule, the idea that the I.P isn't just buried completely would be considered "good news" at this point.

God damn it, is it still going or are they disbanded; ANSWER ME.
The guys who were doing S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 pretty much all left to form Vostok Games and from what I can gather with my limited Babelfishing abilities is that Sergei would probably have to put together a new team but that's not unheard of since if I recall correctly, none of the guys who were working on S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 had been a part of the Shadow of Chernobyl team so it's not like there hasn't been a precedent of getting a completely new team to continue the franchise.

    Edited:

Actually, this all is an eerie reminder of the pains Shadow of Chernobyl went through during it's development, postponings and the development team suddenly packing their stuff and leaving mid-development.

I think it'd be rather annoying to be reminded about the shaky situation ever since December 2011. It's already a pain that each time we get our hopes up, someone or something pours a bucket of cold water on us.

In the long run it's just a bunch of Ukrainians dicking around the faucet, tho..
I guess at this point we've become de-sensitized to it. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 will probably get thawed out of the cryo in the far future since it's too valuable of an I.P to be abandoned altogether but you're right : it's comforting enough that we have the a mod community that's keeping the games fresh.

Decided to go hit up one of the Duty outposts at Agroprom on my way to Yantar :

Here I try (and fail) to engage that little smudge of shit that can be barely seen a little ways above the closest "spider" (metal tripod-thing). The AKS-74, despite being upgraded for accuracy, just has the bullets hit the ground around him in a neat circular pattern. His fire isn't effective from this range but neither is mine.

    "Dance little monkey!"

At this point I might've just as well hit F9

The cave in SOUP is one of the most horrid fucknesses I have seen in a videogame. Horrible design (repeating corridors, plain as fuck), buggy as shit (snorks and pseudogiants coming out of the goddamn walls) and boring (seriously, it kinda spoils the game when they give you that weapon and an exoskeleton together with a super artefact).

I realize how hard it can be to make an entirely new level, but my question is: Why? There was absolutely no need for it.

I don't understand how people are having such trouble with the cave. I completed it in one of the older horrifically bugged and untranslated builds of the Soup, took me maybe 15 minutes.

I didn't have trouble with it (well except for not having brought with me the artefact the first time), but even the little time spent there was horrible. Also again, I just don't see why that turd was needed.

Swartz is kinda boring in a way that they rehauled radiation and the worst thing it can ever do to me is prevent me from sleeping. Otherwise it's not even a fucking problem to me.

I think Swarz, and CoP overall, has too little bullet drop. I'm fine with 100% accuracy, as long as it doesn't feel like hitscan (like almost all NATO weapons in CoP).
Or maybe I'm just too used to Doom's VSS ballistics. It's just so satisfying to hit head-shot from 150 meters, aiming ~4meters above the target.

Call of Pripyat was the only game in the series (outside of mods) to actually have a bullet drop for all weapons, not just the VSS. SoC and CS pretty much just delete the rounds after certain distance of flight. It can be modified to resemble real ballistics but as far as vanilla games go, CoP has the most realistic bullet drop (which is still exaggerated because even though the combat distances in CoP are typically longer what they were in SoC / CS, they're still way shorter than the ranges bullet drop would be a factor to be really taken into account IRL).
