Yeah, while CoP is the most polished game and richest in terms of features, it can't beat the sheer immersion of SoC.

I tried breaking out of Agroprom after clearing it out in OGSE with the car in the back. I didn't make it a hundred meters before the military shot it to hell, forced it to explode, and launched me thirty feet into the air. What's the point of spending money on cars? I mean, can they go to other levels with you? I don't feel like paying 30,000 RU for something that can only work in one level.

Probably something like Night Vision, or something that isn't visible.
Yeah the CS suit had a much nicer night vision built in, since it was kind of like SoC Complete's where it's more a white/general lighting up instead of green or blue/pruple.

They can move to other levels with you iirc, but not all of the level changers can accommodate them e.g. Cordon to Garbage.

    Edited:

They're changing the levels drastically in the next version.

I think it's because it was our first forays into the Zone, so it's a reminder of when it all felt new and strange.

Seems like your merge is missing sounds needed for when a blowout starts, or is about to start. You just need those sounds in the right place and it would be fine.

Wow, the CYSTA exoskeleton in OGSE is amazing. Sure it cost like 140k (Which isn't really that hard to get), but it lets me carry 115 kg.
I was using that suit for a while during Yantar and X16. I was using it to carry my two guns and two other exos that I had picked up from stashes to compare with. I found that I really like Ghost's suit more than the rest honestly. Pretty good stats all around, with artifacts it becomes better. Everything is better with 4 of those cactus artifacts I picked off of bandits in the Dark Valley!

Beat vanilla, then go with either SGM 2.1, Redux or Misery(if you edit it for a bit).

And if you want only better graphics get Atmosfear 3 and Absolute Textures [SUB]because Complete is Obsolete[/SUB]

    First playthrough go with vanilla.

    Second playthrough:

SGM for oodles of added content, link in OP.

Misery for adequately balanced hardcorey-ness, some new weapons and new textures.

Redux for decently balanced hardcorey-ness but not much added content (link in OP)

Swartz's Mod for added weapons and an interesting radiation mechanic, plus improved A-Life.

All of the above apart from SGM include some form of Atmosfear.

Awesome. I did beat it. (Reason for wondering about mods) The first run was cool, and with the addons, the next should be better.

What ruined it for me is that as usual, most of the iron sights are only aligned correctly for 16:9.

There were never any alignment problems with sights in SoC mods.

I just made Owl sell 60 rounds of 9x39mm, and buy weapons from 50% condition and upwards.

Good idea. I don't mind ammo being scarce or pricey, but I hate when traders just don't sell it at all. I think their inventory is static as well, right? It'd be nice to have the random ones back.

Well, each item sold is assigned a chance that the item spawns in the trader inventory, and a number of units.

So (0.5;1) would, iirc, have a 50% chance of spawning one of the item in question every time the trader's inventory is refreshed.

It looks like Redux is going to update sometime. Getting a V2.0 it seems.
    Don't hold your breath yet.

It's worse when your PC hangs just before the Duty barricade, so the dogs are suddenly 1 meter behind you instead of 5, and you're out of stamina.

On the plus side, you can get a meat chunk every time you wipe them out, which a fair few traders offer quests requiring.

They're annoying for the first time but they'll gift you a 5.45 Groza so I won't complain....

What? Is that the pack of dogs that the Duty General is offering a quest to kill for?
That Barin guy who apparently buys the 5.45 Groza from Sid often gets killed by the dogs because he has to actually travel to the Bar from the South. It's the best way to acquire the weapon because otherwise killing him would alert the Bar or punting an explosive barrel next to him. Only thing is that you want to quicksave before he gets killed by the dogs so if the Groza's in bad shape, you can reload and hope it'll be in mint condition next time.

Yeah, your immersion gets broken the second you see any of the animations or hear any of the voice acting.

CoP is pretty low on the STALKER scale for me. Honestly it might be even lower than CS. It's the most boring STALKER game, with giant, completely uninteresting maps, horrible voice acting, and horrible animations. I've seen more bugs in it than in patched SoC.
