Title says it all really, I am failing to mount my HTC Desire as a storage device.
When I plug it in, at best I'll get a message saying "USB Device Not Recognised."
In my device manager, it looks like this:

I have tried using various different drivers, including the ones in the android SDK, the ones from HTC sync and even some "one click installer" I found lying around the web.

My phone is rooted, is running USB debugging and has been set to mount as a disk drive, so none of those are the issue.

This is on Windows 7, but interestingly on my laptop (which is also running 7), the default drivers worked like a charm first time.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm really running out of ideas for things to try.

I do indeed, just tried to do what you said. Same results; either the "USB Device Not Recognised" message or no message at all, depending on which USB port I plugged it into.

Have you tried another USB cable, have you tried deleting all drivers, do other USB devices work? Does the phone work okay on another computer?

I tried my friend's cable to no avail, other devices work and it works fine with my laptop.
How would I go about purging windows of whatever shitty drivers it has installed now?

    Edited:
Scratch that, my friends cable worked when I just tried it again. That's two cables I've busted now, are they just really flimsy or something? Time to buy a third one...

Will any USB to MicroUSB cable work, providing that the data lines are intact (i.e it's not just a charging cable)?
