Man being a photographer for nasa would be so cool
If for some reason I got to go into space, I always thought I'd try an HDR image of the Earth, so you can see all the stars and milky way behind the Earth.
Guys you can see my penis from here!
Loading the original picture made my computer crash.
Get more than 16 MBs of RAM x)
Just kidding plz don't kill me
incredible! reminds me of them gigapixel images of obama's inauguration etc
this isn't a "totally real" picture. north america is distorted to look larger than it actually is; there's aliasing on the earth's surface, the atmosphere doesn't look like the earth's atmosphere but rather just a plain blue glow, and there isn't shading on the earth, etc.
it's (sort of) a 3D render taken from composite textures from the earth:
NASA posted:
Is there a bigger size? 8000x8000 is to small, i can't see it.
This was taken in more than one shot
wow you don't say?
Because it says it
Are you sure?
This goes nearly perfectly with my 500MB image of the Moon NASA released some time ago.
oooo. Link?

Download link is at the bottom of that article.
Thanks.
You can tell by looking at the very edge of the Earth that it is a 3D render.
Try finding somewhere steady to set your tripod while orbiting at 17,000 mph.
Absolutely gorgeous.
Plus there's no stars.
My friend told me about this, it's pretty epic. he also said he saw a 12000x12000 picture of a town. does anybody know where i can find it. thanks
Of course there's no stars, there wouldn't be stars even if it wasn't fake.
If you wanted to see the stars, the Earth would be severely overexposed. (Unless the image was a combination of several images, HDR style)
I thought this was slightly obvious the edges of the earth seems pretty fake.
cant see nj :(
Found a making-of thing
