It's a shame BT suck at upgrading their network.
Going to 100Mbs hopefully then
Hopefully the upload speed wont stay around 5mbs
I would have virgin at home if it was in my area. Can't get BT fibre either.
Theres fibre in our area but the cabling in the building is decades old copper so whats the point.
im so jelly right now
2mbs right now :(
Fuck yeah, maybe this means I can download at above 700kb/s..
For a second I imagined a basement dweller that had managed to double his connection speed.
lol virgin are really really really bad, adsl bt are also quite bad but at least there service works more than half the time. BT Infinity has been the best isp i've ever used, even more so than Be. i've clocked 6 months uptime on the modem without restarts, no downtime, no caps, no traffic management and its always fast. When i was with virgin the only place i could get 50MB was if the server was in London, i was gettinbg 125kb to america, about 2mb to europe and the downtime, it would go down for 'maintinance' sometimes 2 or 3 times a week for upto 5 or 6 hours. youtube videos would always buffer even if speedtest said i was getting the full 50mb lol
Damnit America, why can't you have speeds like the UK. We just recently switched over to 1 Mb/s
Let's hope they stop slowing my speed down from 10 to 1.
Holy shit, I can't even imagine speeds like that. I'm stuck at 1mbps right now, my actual download speeds rarely go over 128kbps :(
I doubt they'll upgrade me from 10Mbps unless I renew my contract for another 9 months/year which sucks because I'm a student at the end of my course and don't know how long I'll be in an area covered by them.
Virgin Media has any relation/connection with Richard Branson's Virgin company?
If yes, wow this guy is expanding A LOT and FAST!
Fuck yeah, come March I'll have 100Mb broadband, I'm glad I decided to run Cat6 round the house now.
Jesus, this is why I know love Virgin Media again! We're on 10mb but we only get that speed in early mornings, sometimes night. Rest of the day it feels like 250kb a sec odd..
100Mb broadband here i come, I'm glad i stayed with virgin.
It seems that both Virgin and BT are starting to kick into gear. BT are starting to trial 80Mb/s down and 20Mb/s up which will be available to their current 40Mb customers, whether that's free or not though, I'm not getting my hopes up. Hopefully since Virgin are offering all these upgrades BT might be encouraged to keep up.
Still nice to go from this incredibly unstable connection:
120Mbps? That's faster than my LAN. :smith:
This is my current speed in an apartment with ancient copper cabling:
And this isn't even the fastest speed available, I could upgrade to around 200Mbps if I wanted.
Also as everyone else is doing it:
Sweet! This is our 3rd 'free' upgrade in two years.
Well, and one downgrade.
Switched over to Virgin last year from BT, been pretty good so far.
500KB here. To think people can recieve 200x this speed is just unimaginable to me.
fucking knew this thread would become a "post speedtest results" thread
Speaking of which, I'm paying for a 20 MB connection but all I'm getting is 8 MB because "we'v got no fast cabuls in ur city lololo".
I'm getting 0.1Mbps right now due to faulty phone lines.
80kb/s master race
I hate my internet ):
