Why is it that new players think all roads lead to a battleship? Because they're big?
I think it's the number of slots, at least that's what it was for me when I was a noob. I was flying a Cormorant at the time and the fact that I had 8 weapon hard points made me feel like I was king shit. I looked at the cruisers and stuff and was like, "Why the fuck would I fly that if it only has 5 weapons slots and my destoryer has 8?" When I saw the Rokh I thought that would be the best shit I could get my hands on. It probably also has to do with the mentality that people learn from other MMOs. Bigger is better. You think that once you get to the biggest ship you must be one of the baddest mother fuckers out there and anything smaller is shit.

Well this doesn't have to be secret anymore so who wants to see one of the dumbest ever people in EVE?

Met him back when he joined our corp when I was a bad, bad, russian pet in wicked creek. Even then, this was one of his fits:

    [Drake, WHAT IS THIS (Stokar)]
    Multi Sensor Backup Array II
    Damage Control II
    Ballistic Control System II
    Co-Processor II

    Cap Recharger II
    Invulnerability Field II
    Large Shield Booster II
    Shield Recharger II
    Shield Recharger II
    Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction

Heavy Missile Launcher II, Thunderbolt Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Thunderbolt Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Thunderbolt Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Thunderbolt Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Thunderbolt Heavy Missile
    Small Tractor Beam I
Assault Missile Launcher II, Sabretooth Light Missile
Assault Missile Launcher II, Sabretooth Light Missile

    Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
    Medium Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I

    (I wish I was kidding)

After that I infiltrated his corps with Treia, causing billions in damages including stealing several hundred million isk worth of stuff he gave me access to one day one. This was also the guy whose carrier I killed if anyone remembers that. Most recently he seems to have quit after losing his entire blueprint collection. Since I've practically confirmed he's quit by watching his (lack of) login status for the last few months, I thought I'd share this with you fellows.

I've been playing since 2009 and haven't bothered with battleships.
Agreed, I have over 15m skill points and haven't really touched them either. You can (and probably should) focus on running smaller ship classes better. A lot of EVE noobs (and indeed, many of its "pros") don't understand things like tracking time, signature radius, explosion velocity (for missiles), etc.... which is fine, they're not exactly intuitive, but if you want to understand the combat mechanics you need to learn these things.

If you want to learn why, I have a link for you. It's doesn't have ALL the details, but it will help you get the idea: Damage

What you should take away from this is that missiles and turrets use different stats, but signature radius affects both of them. Any of you ever put a shield rig on and be like "why should I care about my signature radius?" Well, if your signature radius is big enough, it won't matter how fast you're moving: you're going to get hit.

tl;dr having a big ship is not an "I win" button. Smaller ships can just tackle you and slowly break you open like a juicy lobster.

So I just bought ~100 million units of tritanium and am planning to buy more. With these drone poop nerfs coming up trit price will hopefully increase enough for me to make a healthy profit

I'm actually training Caldari Battleship to 5 because I'd like to make the transition from a Strat to something else like a Golem or a CNR. All I do is run missions, and a Tengu is comparatively slow to a Golem, unless of course you're dealing with long ranges.

Which is the main reason I'm still undecided on Tech 2 extenders, since the sig radius boost is pretty high over meta 4's.

I've stuck with them on drakes, but for low sec hurricanes I think I do notice the mitigation.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. I don't think t2 extenders are a good choice for a pvp hurricane. Caldari on the other hand already have stupid high signature radii so it's not like you're losing out.

They have before, but it retains the shape mostly but looks completely different.

Look at the maller for instance. Or the bomber concept art... etc.

Yeah saw the prices for those. Wish I made a play with them too.

Tritanium is starting to jump now. Bought almost all of the tritanium in my region that was under 5isk/unit. Got that huge load @ 4.3/unit. Not too bad.

Also Bulaba0, Zydrine is on it's way down in Jita. Might be a good time to sell

You should all be in the 'facepunch chat' in-game chat channel, too.

If you don't know how, click the speech bubble at the upper right of the chat window and type 'Facepunch Chat' in the 'channels' dialogue.
