The only thing you need to say is " Diablo3 is shit, guildwars 2 is amazing" nuff said /argument over
this would be a valid argument if it wasn't for the fact that GW2 and D3 are completely different games
Isn't that a violation of the NDA? If I recall correctly it specifically forbids you to tell people that you got in the beta.
That said, were I to hypothetically get in a beta event, I would name my character the same as my Facepunch username so if somebody hypothetically wanted to add me to their hypothetical friends list in the hypothetical beta I would hypothetically be happy and get a hypothetical party going on.
Hypothetically.
Speaking of beta, I first learned of GW1 on Halloween some years ago. We came by a house and peeking inside I saw a guy playing it and I asked about it. If I remember correctly he was going through the underworld; All I remember is an obsidian like chasm.
Probably Fissure of Woe rather than Underworld. Or even the fire islands missions in Prophecies.
HE'S IN THE BETA, KILL HIM!
Can't tell if it's a joke, or if it's truth.
It's not like they are going to care alot if you said to a friend "Hey I'm in the beta"...
Just don't leak images and videos...
Yeah this is Facepunch. When do we ever follow any sort of NDA of the likes?
As much as I want in the beta I feel it would be one of those "YOU GET BETA ACCESS FOR A WEEKEND AND IT WILL BE EXTREMELY RESTRICTED" sort of situations rather than "have beta access until a week or so before release, test the entire game!" :/
I mean I still want beta access but I'm not a fan of the way many MMOs do betas. And then again the latter type is usually for preorders with small companies
Edited:
It'll probably be like the press's test and be a week end. I don't think we'll have access to as much as they did, and like someone has said here before, it'll probably be for WvWvW. Personally, I think they'll have some week ends for dungeons and various areas to find small bugs. As a wise man once said, "You can't hire someone to fuck something up as well an an end user." After the bug phase they'll have stress testing for the servers, and most people signed up in the beta will get in there.
Sadly that will be near the end/before release!
Holy fuck that WvW part at the gate... too bad it won't be like that when you actually play (odds are there will be a ton of lone wolfing...)
Are castle gates really gonna take 20 minutes to take down
If they don't fix it, yes... One of the video's I watched the narrator said that was on purpose so the defenders can have a chance to strike back.

You get to see it around 15:00 - 16 and he explains it
Well yeah, it kind of has to. And at that point, the NDA and reporting bugs are much less important since the last phases would have gotten the critical problems and it's so close to the release they can risk more people leaking.
Basically, it's perfect for people like
Also watching that yogocast video the guilds could really unbalance things just because of coordination :p
So basically worlds that have large guilds will probably do better
I've read somewhere that it is possible for two people (coordinated and certain classes) can defend against and army. Let me see if I can find the source.
"2 coordinated players could hold off an army depending on the gear, levels and play style, of the attackers. It would be very difficult though, do to everyone being able to resurrect."

Question # 123
The idea is that every world will be large enough and there would be a couple large guilds in each server. And if you remember playing the faction battles in GW1, there we're sometimes large mobs just going around killing and capping everything, but the other team usually broke into smaller groups and recaptured everything behind them. They're probably aiming for a system similar to that, but with higher roles for the larger mobs to aim for.
It's going to be Warhammer Online, the side with the biggest zerg is going to win because player ability means nothing in 40vs40 fights. I like the idea but I'm not looking forward to WvW at all, roll in the 5v5 arena.
pretty much this, it's just going to be a lot of zerging. Granted there will be some guilds with massively skilled people in it that won't have to zerg to take out objectives and such, but i have a feeling that's going to be a bit of a rare sight
holy shit
Edited:
I was all like "yeah right we know the maps are big" and then I saw this picture
holy SHIT
With the way points are distributed for each cap, massive zergfests would actually lose out to coordinated strikes on the smaller points, as a big zerg can't cover nearly as much ground.
I know it's gone into beta and all, but i'm just gonna try and stay away from general in game media surrounding the beta, I would much rather see the whole entire finished product than get a sneak peek. Plus my computer would need a serious makeover to even fucking run it![]()
So I was going through my NVIDIA Control Panel looking at games with compatibility with my drivers and then I find this:
Spooky!
Edited:
Must've been the computer specs thing... or not, a friend who did the computer specs check doesn't have it.
Got around 40-50 clannies with a few little allied guilds of 20 people and another large 40-50 man guild all who are going te be in the same server raping people.
Our clans are used to do tactics but on a way smaller community so it will be a big and fun challange
Stereoscopic? Interesting. I didn't install that lame driver.
I've had bad experiences with large siege PvP type things in the past (namely Age of Conan) so I'm not going in with high expectations for the WvWvW in GW2. Granted, it will definitely be better than the AoC siege PvP stuff, I still don't think it's going to be as amazing as they're trying to make it out to be. I'll most likely be focusing on organized PvP a lot more than the WvWvW, but i can't do anything but wait and see how it turns out
Well at least there's no sub fee so I don't have to feel terribly guilty about leaving the game if I end up hitting the end game and not liking PvP. I plan on doing mostly PvE but I'll dabble in PvE
in that yogocast video it wasnt even the "main" castle for the area, I think it was a minor keep or something.
See i fucking love long battles as long as they balance it wouldn't give a damn if 1 battle took an entire day i'd love every minute of it, in WoW pre-bc 17 hour AVs were fucking epic.
How I feel that this will end up going is that it will be a steam-roll fest lots of the time, and it will be a long-drawn out battle because of inconveniently powerful gates, not because it's going back and forth in skirmishes. In that case i'd rather have it a shorter steam-roll fest rather than a long one
Well it's hard to steam roll when the map is so big. The large groups can only be in so many places at once. You alone can be everywhere else.

Also, folken is working on updating his Build Tool:

The update isn't released yet because he is still gathering information from the Press Beta.
bullet100 provides all the good updates
cheers mate
Colin just updated us with some nice info:

did you ever play Dark Age of Camelot? it's pretty much universally agreed to have the best WvW-style pvp and GW2 has taken a massive amount of influence from it, right down to not displaying nameplates for enemy invaders.
It's a known issue and they've already fixed it, it was one of the first things they fiddled with after the beta.
Not that I don't believe you, I'm just curious of your source?
