I was thinking of building a new computer. It doesn't have to be super powerful, and I think I'll use a hard drive from an old prebuilt. And if possible, get it to about 500-600 bucks.

I have an OS, monitor, KB&M. And its intended for moderate usage and light gaming

    Thanks in advance.

    Do you need an OS?

Not if Vista from the drive will work.

You speak to us as if we are your robots that will do your every bidding with no questions asked...

What do you want the build to do? What are you going to be doing with it? Do you need a keyboard, mouse, monitor, or OS? You can learn a lot on your own, we aren't going to do everything for you.

I was kinda joking, no biggie. If nobody beats me to it I'll get you a nice base once I can. What games do you play? Any specific programs you use?

I play mostly mid-resource games. I'd like to get some sort of shooter to run well too.

The more specific you are the more accurate we can be. Are you talking Crysis-level graphics or Counter Strike-level graphics? Like any specific game names you know you will want to be playing? Like what's most important?

If possible, Battlefield 3 on pretty low-med settings, Fallout NV/3, and Kerbal Space Program.

If our other buddy in this thread doesn't beat me to it, I'll be back in a little bit to set you up.

Perfect build and if need be you can eventually upgrade to an i5 2500k or ivy bridge processor if you ever need to.

Also the 6850 can run BF3 on medium at around 40 FPS, I might be able to bump it to a 560ti if needed but I don't think I can. lemme check prices.

    Edited:

If you want to go $30 over budget you can get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127616 and have a better GPU but the 6850 will do just fine for what you plan on doing.
