Hey, it's coming up to Christmas time, and I am deciding to replace my mothers/families shitty ass pre-built dated back to 2005.

It will mostly be used for business, film editing and gaming All is needed is the tower, monitor and OS has been covered.
I would hand pick the parts myself, but what I got for my own $1400 gaming rig sort of disappoints me.

    Edited:

Please to god don't select an ultimate ricer case, it's my computer illiterate mother.

Can you re-use a harddrive from your old computer?

if you can re-use or at least temporarily re-use a storage device, then you can bump up to an i5 2500(k), or get a more powerful gpu, but i'd suggest the former, as you can just as well crossfire the 6850 once you'll need it.

Alternatively there are cheaper cases you can get, if you need more RAM.
    This is in total

Edit, just a moment, gotta switch out that case, keep forgetting that it isn't the one without that one extra powersupply.

Switch it out to like http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16811133179
    or

I honestly don't know, there aren't a lot of cases within your budget that look sleek and appealing to me.

It still doesn't have a power supply... And I don't care for sleek and appealing, I already said its for my family.

Heres a build with PSU and this will be just fine for the family as an i3 2100 will beat and AMD phenom X4 and if you ever need to upgrade it, it is a 1155 socket which is perfect.

Surely you can go over $36 dollars?

If it's just for your family why do you need a high end GPU? Surely you can deal with medium graphics settings

Well he said it would be for some video editing and gaming and a 6850 isnt too high of a card, I mean I guess he could always get a 6770

Price difference between a 6770 and 6850 is 30 dollars, the 6850 is just a tiny bit below the performance of two 6770's in crossfire. That is a significant performance difference, and is well worth those 30 dollars.

why did you replace the f3, thats silly

Was just saying he could get a 6770 to not go over his budget.

No shit, no need to keep replying like a ten year old with aspergers jesus christ zerokateo, we all understood what you meant the first fucking time you said it.

30 dollar difference is not worth it, rather drop down on the case.

Same thing in every single thread. Grow up or piss off. This is not how forums work.

Sort of went through with my step-father about the computer aspect, he said 400-500, so I am going to drop the HDD and probably get a faster processor.

I currently use an i5 2400, would that be good for this computer?

Nevermind, I am finalizing a build at this moment.
