I don't know I get bored of it
I used to do this thing wherever I got caught I'd just let them kill me and try again
After like 10 failed attempts I just was like: No fuck it and just went on a bloody rampage and won.
There's nothing more satisfying then knifing and hiding the bodies of the radio guys, setting up a position and lighting up the remaining guards, meanwhile they can't call for help and they don't know where the fire is coming from, so it's just like a shooting gallery

I am getting my shit wrecked on MGS1, Just     defeated the hind, had about 50% HP left when finished, but now I'm finding it impossible to do the stealthed chaps in the elevator without getting killed.
I grab them and choke them to death, it can be difficult at first since you have three others attacking you but the more you kill the easier it gets.

why though? that's even more risky. there's nothing easier than walking around and tranquing and knifing people.
Yeah, they fixed tranqs being insanely overpowered in Peace Walker because helmets can take 1 - 4 hits from a tranquilizer gun before you'll actually hit them in the head and knock them out.

If you hit them anywhere else, it takes ages for them to fall over.

What are peace walker's graphics like in comparison to MGS3
MGS2 looks okay, about what I expected
    MGS3 looks beautiful
I'm hoping Peace Walker looks even better than MGS3, but I don't know because there's probably a little bit less processing power on the PSP opposed to the PS2

Peace Walker looks pretty shit compared to MGS3, but it doesn't look that bad imo. I think the textures are a maybe a tiny bit better than PSP, especially on the character models, and it doesn't really detract from the overall experience, but Peace Walker doesn't look that great.

It's incredibly impressive for PSP though, the environments are almost up to MGS3 quality (though with no animals, plants, stuff like that)

It has a lot more "extra content" outside of the missions than MGS3 though.

I'm really glad this thread is so active. Usually, threads about HD editions disappear into obscurity after the first 3 pages.

I did consider making a Devil May Cry thread in celebration of the new HD collection.

Thinking of playing the series through for the story. The first three I could play right away, the fourth one later next month.

To better enjoy/understand the plot, should I play them chronologically or in the order they were released? Afaik, MGS3 takes place years before MGS2 and so on.

I would recommend playing it in this order MGS1>MSGS2>MGS3>MGS:PW

Simply because, MGS3 improves upon the formula so much that it's difficult to go backwards.

We need someone from the PS3 to be an officer in the Steam group, so that we can have someone to host PS3 events/announcements.

    However, there are some criteria:
    1. Must be competent and pleasant to deal with.
    2. Must be able to post regular announcements/comments on the Steam page.

And a microphone is preferable, but not required.

I'd reccomend taking them in chronologic order : MGS3, PO, PW, MG, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4. But of course, i seem to be the only person in the world who thinks hearing a story in order is a good idea.

Most MGS fans prefer release order because new information is introduced in each one. Playing MGS3 spoils some information from MGS1 and so on.

ye and in addition the gameplay goes up and down like a rollercoaster. making the whole experience very uncomfortable because suddenly you can't aim in first person view and then suddenly you can and it just turns into a mess.

they should most definitely be played in the order they were released. it's the best way. both in terms of narrative and gameplay.

I actually have been thinking on this... And no. It's merely foreshadowed. MGS3 really doesn't change the plot... weight of the other games, it just changes the emphasis on exposition a bit. I've been thinking a bit on this, and there's nothing in the prequels that spoil the larger plot and even the intricate shit holds up.     In MGS1, Vulcan says "blood from the east flows in your veins". In MGS3, Eva is revealed to be Big Boss' romantic interest, in MGS4, she's revealed as the surrogate mother with an egg from an eastern woman.    setting the chronological order right doesn't really change this.    other than make the Intro of EVA seem even less out of place in the scheme of things, in relation to Les Enfants Terrible and such

Lots of other things like this. I personally think it enhances it all. Imagine the emotional gravity it would give an MG1 remake, actually knowing that    you're fighting a man with noble intentions, rather than the pure evil he was made out to be in the original.

IMO, hearing a story from one end to the other works out fine with this series.

I can easily adapt to control differences, i hardly even notice. Narratively, i still hold on to mine. But hey, each our own.

Yeah, MGS3 hints at the origins to things you learn about in the endings of MGS1 and MGS2, for example, so taking them in release order is the best idea in my opinion.

I just completed the game, and done the first zoltan retrieval.

About camaraderie. Getting camaraderie will be a real bitch to do, because The game only records the last 50 people you've played with. If you play with more then 50 people the game will start pushing the latest name on its memory off and erasing all the camaraderie you had with that play.

So if any of you are interested in getting 20,000 camaraderie, we'll need to form a group so we no longer have to play with randoms.

I think the point was probably to focus on playing with friends or just generally the same people, or just an oversight during the port from the PSP (With less of a playing pool and obviously less memory) to the current consoles. I'm thinking it's the latter most likely, but then again noone truly understands the mind of Kojima.
