If you can stealthily take out all the guards then the tank commander will poke his head out, if you kill or tranq him then you'll get his tank

The guards that I can get behind but do nothing as if I CQC one/throw him to the floor or just get him in a choke hold the rest just turn around like hmmm

The tank missions are really badly explained.
"Snake take out all the guards to make the commander pop out"
*proceeds to take out guards*

*no guards left*

Do a hold up, they can't hear you doing that. Sneaking suit helps too since it makes your foot steps silent.

How do you do a hold up?, I tried doing it while they're standing but all that happens is snake is just stood behind an enemy pointing his gun, they don't even realise i'm there and snake doesn't say "freeze" or what ever.., the only time i've done one is when you throw them to the floor.
Or do you have to do it with anything other than the mk.22?

I had trouble with that myself, you have to be close enough to see the CQC indicator.

I tried that, got really close and they heard my footsteps which are apparently louder than the tank that we're all standing next to.

Nah you gotta take out the escorts, I think you have to take them all out stealthily. A good tactic (since fulton recovery devices are quite limited) is to get the vehicle to run them over.

I just shot the escorts with a rocket launcher, he sent back up, shot em as well, he popped out, shot a rocket in his face.

I DIDEDEDED It... just did what the above guy said but didn't shoot the captain in the face with a rocket, I used the MK.22.

Just started doing MGS3 on European Extreme.. It's fuck hard.

Smoke Grenade's are pretty useful to use agaisnt escorts if you want to save the MK22 rounds and CQC/Hold them all up.
Your either very brave, or very stupid... or both.

Yeah true, I'd probably be the same, but on my own I can do some good sneaking and get through missions, so i'm not too bad I guess, but friends help too.

I can't beat the Peace Walker II mission. I'm carrying 3 rocket launchers and I use up all my supply markers and the boss still has 3 healthbars left. Is this supposed to be a co-op only mission?

It most definitely would require two. It doesn't outright say it but a lot of missions are CO-OP focused.
That said, what launchers do you have?

I'm using the gustav, rpg7, and law. This is the only mission I have left to beat at the moment.

I just beat that, you definately need coop partners, you can't do this without it since it soaks up so much damage. S ranked it on first try (with others of course) which is quite nice.

i beat it by myself with gustav, rpg7, and the assault rifle
battle suit made it ok

I've done it solo with a LMG and LAW's, And a few supply and artillery markers.

unless you want to tranq the last monster hunter boss (rex on the ship, aka COMPLETE FUCKING BULLSHIT)

Ya this is impossible solo with this equipment. Even when my law does 22,000 damage, it still takes at least 10 shots to take one bar of health down.
