Seems like projectedtexture filter is bugged for me or something. Set to lower than 1 causes the shadows to disappear completely..

I'm bumping this up for how great it really is. People who have not seen this really need to.

You can produce some amazing looking stuff with these settings if you tweak them a little bit so and so.

Thanks so much for such a good guide!

This is awesome. Somebody should make a stool for setting up the lamps, so we can change it's FOV and shit ingame. That would be hell of useful.

This is a thing that is happening. I'll talk to MaxOfS2D about when the advanced lamp stool will be publicly released, if such a thing isn't included with gmod 13.

Thanks for the tutorial. This combined with an extra-low mipmap level makes for some nice closeup shots.

Sorry for the bump, but the whole FOV thing is kinda confusing me, I'm not entirely understanding what exactly it changes.

It makes the light cover a wider area. A small FOV would make it very focused and small, like a spotlight - a high FOV will make it very wide to cover a large area, like a floodlight.

You can't. You're restricted by the graphics card in the note-book, sadly.

Can someone help me please? I looked through this tutorial right and here's what I did. Opened Garrys Mod and opened console in the menu, put in r_shadowcolor 255 255 255, r_projectedtexture_filter 0.2, r_flashlightdepthres_4096 and when I shined a lamp on a barrel in a dark room it came out all grainy on the object and there was no shadow coming from behind the barrel. Help anyone?

I tried these commands and now none of my lamps work in game. I can spawn them but they do not illuminate anything at all, only my flash light does. How can i fix this, or at least reset it back to default shadows?

Delete the config.cfg in the cfg folder.
